Paris has always been a city of poets. French masters like Apollinaire, Baudelaire, Verlaine and Rimbaud all drew inspiration from the bustling capital. And even in today’s technology-driven world, the French make time for the age-old art form. This spring, travel to Paris for the 11th annual ‘Printemps des Poètes’ poetry festival and enjoy thousands of free poetry sessions.
From March 2nd – March 15th, the festival sponsors over 5,000 events in cafes, schools and museums. This year’s theme, ‘En Rires’ (In Laughter) will highlight the lighter, more playful side of poetry (think more slapstick and satire, less melancholy and sorrow!
On March 10th, local Parisians share their own poems - at home, at work, in the schools and in the streets. The city truly comes alive with debates, recitals, exhibitions and competitions all devoted to the art of poetry.

I’ve been to dozens of poetry festivals within the states but I’ve never been to one in Paris. Lucky for me I leave for Paris tomorrow and my vacation rental rental apartment is located in the midstof the action.
