More than one million visitors flock to the Radio City Music Hall in Midtown West each year to experience the magical Rockettes in all their high-kicking glory. The 72-member troupe is a site to behold as they whirl around the stage in perfect unison. In the “Parade of the Wooden Soldiers” — performed every year since 1933 — each Rockette falls back onto the next, creating a mesmerizing visual domino effect.
While the Rockettes certainly are the stars of the show, the other song and dance numbers are equally entertaining, including perennial favorites “ The Nutcracker” and “Dancing Santas.” The high-quality costumes, stage sets, lights and sound make every second of the 90-minute show an unforgettable experience!
In 2007, for the show’s 75th Anniversary, several modern elements were added to the performance, including a 3-D sleigh ride with Santa and a virtual tour of “New York at Christmas”. This year’s show will feature 40 minutes of never-before-seen musical numbers.
The Christmas Spectacular opened this year on November 17 and will continue its run through January 3rd, 2010, with an average of four show times daily. I’m going to this on the weekend, it’s been a dream for the last ten years! I think it will also put me in the Christmas spirit!
Never been to see a Rockettes show but I am sure this will be a wonderful New York City Highlight to do during Christmas time!
I was able to see this a few weeks ago. These dancers are outstanding, and so in sync it is unreal.

I’m seeing The radio city christmas show this week, ah it’s January already and I’m glad the show is still on, it will help to extend the christmas spirit a little longer.
Radio City is also a great place to visit. The Stage Door Tour is worth doing for those interested in how it was built (great elevator system, stage organization) and in Art Deco design.
