One of Chelsea's most famous sites is the Royal Hospital. Designed as a retirement and nursing home for old soldiers, it still serves the original purpose for which it was opened in 1682 by Charles II. Nowadays, the Chelsea Flower Show is held on the grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea each year.
Chelsea was once the bohemian quarter of London housing artists and poets among others but now a highly sought after area commanding high property prices. It also has several well known shopping areas including the King's Road, Fulham Road, and Sloane Street. Sloane Square is one of the better known landmarks at the south end of Sloane Street.
The neighborhood has easy subway access via the Piccadilly, Circle and District subway lines. Chelsea can also be reached by the Imperial Wharf railway station.
Chelsea's central location and easy access to transportation make it an ideal location to rent a vacation rental apartment. Furthermore, with easy access to museums, shopping and the Thames there are plenty of reasons to choose a Chelsea apartment.
