This one bedroom is a great space for those that need easy access to Manhattan. The number 7 train takes approximately 15 minutes to Grand Central Station. The apartment is located on the ground floor of a 3-story walk-up building with 24 hour video surveillance and a buzzer/intercom system. . There is an irregular sized double futon bed, measuring approximately 75 x 43 (slightly narrower than regular double futon beds). An entertainment center houses a TV, VCR, cable (with HBO) and a small stereo. The living room has an air conditioning unit. |

This was the third apartment I rented in New York and it was my favorite one by far. It is well designed and maintained, and very quiet as it looks over the courtyard. Grand Central Station is a 15-minute ride away with the nearby subway. The neighborhood is ultra welcoming and lively and there is always something to do if you don't feel like going to Manhattan every night.
Nov 05 2012The downsides: there is no hood in the kitchen and the fire alarm which, unfortunately, is placed nearly just above goes off every time you fry something .The walls are pretty thin and you can hear the neighbors very easily. It is a bit dark.
All in all, I will return in a heartbeat. I felt at home in this apartment and in this neighborhood.

Glad that our apartment is your favorite! Our neighborhood is indeed full of life. It is the unfortunate case that the design of the apartment has caused the smoke alarm to be very close to the kitchen. You are surely welcome to come back!

Regarding the guest's comment that this building's walls allowed the guest's neighbors to be heard, we are uncertain of the cause but this building is a walk up which is estimated to have been built in 1928 and the apartment is located on the ground floor.
