One-room with private bath in an owner-occupied 1850s brownstone on a beautiful tree-lined block in the Chelsea Historic District of New York City. Being located on the ground floor, access to the suite is actually just three steps down below street level, as opposed to the typical "walk-up" brownstone rentals.
Approximately 350 square feet, the suite features a queen-sized bed, twin sized-bed, desk, table and chairs, television with cable access, walk-in closet, and bathroom with a shower and small tub featuring hand-painted Italian floor tiles.
Sheets, towels and luxurious throw blankets are provided for your stay and there is a small library with an eclectic collection of New York City guides and histories. The room for rent has its own telephone line and air conditioner.
Well-lighted and spacious, the suite abounds in historical detail, including original shutters for the street-level windows, a decorative fireplace and functioning wall sconces. There is no real kitchen, but the room is complete with a small refrigerator, coffeemaker, tea kettle and toaster as well as dishes and utensils.
Several subway lines are located within 2-3 blocks and numerous bus routes pass nearby. The West Chelsea gallery area is one-half block away and the now-trendy Meatpacking district is just a five-minute stroll from the house. The area is home to a wide variety of restaurants, bars and shops.
