Description
Studio Apartment in Upper West Side (NY-14832)
Studio, 1 Bathroom - Sleeps 2

This is a model apartment. It reflects both the quality and the style of the apartments we offer at this location. The individual apartments are a variation of this one with some differences in layout and exposure.

The studio apartment is situated in a building with 6 floors that was built in the 1920’s. It is a walk-up, meaning that there is no elevator. This Upper West Side studio is furnished with two double-size beds which gives you the opportunity to share the apartment with the roommate of your choice. You can enjoy watching cable TV series on the flat screen or find the best deals via Wi-Fi internet. You can also have a cup of tea or make a sandwich with the kitchen equipment (electric stove top, microwave, toaster, coffee maker and small fridge).

The building is located on Central Park West and 103rd Street, a block away from the Park where there is much to discover, such as statues and monuments (Albert Bertel Thorvaldsen, J. Marion Sims, John Purroy Mitchell), the flora (The Loch, The Pool) and NYC historical sights (The Blockhouse, McGown’s Pass, Nutter’s Battery Site). However, if you prefer a day of shopping, you can stroll down Broadway and find numerous stores from brands like Brooklyn Industries or Urban Outfitters or little-known boutiques. You will also be only 0.8 mile away (1.2km) from the prestigious Columbia University making this apartment a great option for students.

All these Upper West Side attractions are walking distance from the apartment but if you want to discover the rest of Manhattan or the outer boroughs, New York has an extended transit system. You can access the B / C subway lines at 103rd Street/Central Park West or the 1 line at the Broadway/103rd Street station.

Please note that due to its location, some noise can be heard in the apartment at times.

It was everything it needed to be. The staff was helpful and friendly, and the location was fantastic.

This apartment is not a bad option for a few months, because it is not easy to find a place to live in Manhattan (or even in Queens or Brooklyn) for a short term. The apartment itself is more than enough for a short term stay, however it isn't the best option if you are going to be more time.

One of the major problems with this apartment is the noise from the street, because the isolation of the rooms are far away to be enough, for example you have a lot of noise of the trucks and cars since the 6:30 a.m., and also a loud music the weekend nights.

Another problem was that sometimes the bedding and the towels were not very clean.

Dear Guest ,

Thank you for your honest review, we do rent for short term from 1 to 6 months and it is all suited with the minimal but needed amenities.

Just a reminder it is New York city and can be a bit noisy for some, most of our tenants do not see a problem. On that note if it is bothersome please let us know and we would try to accommodate or at lease notify us when you book what you would like an apartment away from the streets.

The same as the linens, there is housekeeping at location daily so to as a manager in the office, an email or phone call to notify any problems would solve this problem.

Thanks

Clean apartment, comfortable bed, quite spacious bathroom. Downsides, kitchen not sufficiently equipped, not shutters hence quite bright.

We appreciate the guest's comments and thank you for the great words Florent and Maxime! Our maids do a great job of keeping the apartments maintained. unfortunately we only provide a basic set of flatware sets for two.

Although there are the basic needed appliances there, toaster, coffee maker, fridge, microwave and stove. a frying pan, two pots, two plates, two spoons two forks. If there are any items missing or broken we advise our guest to please inform us and we will assess the situation immediately .

These are venetian blinds so you do get some sunlight coming.

From: United States,
Apartment Rental: 2 months

The apartment building changed landlords during my stay, a fact of which I was not made aware. There was some mix up as to when rent was due, to whom the payment needed to be made, and the total cost.
I enjoyed the apartment's close proximity to the B and C subway lines, but had a difficult time making it home on late nights and weekends, when uptown B and C trains don't run. There were two permanent tenants that proved to be bothersome at best and disturbing at worst; the monthly tenants, like myself, were kind and quiet. There was much construction on the building during my stay, although not on my floor. Unfortunately the hallways were dirty for the duration of my stay, although the individual, completed rooms were clean. I enjoyed the A/C when it worked. (The single window unit had to be replaced during my first week of residence.) There furnishing and amenities were great. Overall I had a positive experience, but would not choose to return for another two month stay.

Indeed, the ownership was switched during this rental so it took a little time for everyone on the owners' side as well as at New York Habitat to get all the necessary information so it could be adequately updated. There was construction going on in the building as it was being renovated. The owner has replaced the air conditioning unit in this apartment. Thank you for taking the time to send us your review, Chelsea!
