Among them are the world renowned Guggenheim and the Metropolitan Museum of Art with thousands of years of art, respectively 1/2 and 0.8 miles away (800 meters and 1.28 km). If you love shopping, head to Madison Avenue. Often referred as the "Gold Coast" of shopping, it is home to some of the most extravagant shops, upscale boutiques, jewelers and hair salons in the entire world! Even if you are not planning of buying anything, window shopping on this avenue is worth your time. On a sunny day, it is equivalent of a high end art gallery—and it won't cost you a cent. Another great thing about the Upper East Side is its access to Central Park. Walk west to 5th Avenue and you will be right in front of the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir. The 86 Street / Lexington Avenue subway station is served by lines 4, 5 and 6 that run south to lower Manhattan and Brooklyn and north to the Bronx. Lines 4 and 5 offer express service and will take you to Grand Central Station in only 2 stops! From there you can take the shuttle train to Times Square and you will be in the West side of Manhattan in no time!
