Upon entering, you will find the kitchen to your right, which is equipped with a gas stove and a bistro table for enjoying meals. South on the same block (500 feet / 160 meters) you will find a Laundromat, to the north on 30th Avenue (450 feet / 140 meters) you will find pharmacies, grocery stores, and a gym. Additionally, a stroll down Steinway Street five blocks (0.3 miles / 550 meters) you will find a shopping thoroughfare.
Astoria is a diverse neighborhood with a lot to discover. To the south at 36th Street and 35th Avenue is Kaufman Astoria Studios, a historic New York movie studio that filmed some Marx Brothers films and is still functioning; it also has a theatre where you can catch a showing. Next door you can find the Museum of the Moving Image, which collects artifacts exploring the history of the film industry. For a night out, you don’t have to go far: the Sweet Afton bar is on the same block to the north where you can have a drink indoors or in the back garden. For restaurants you’ll find Bareburger at the southern end of the block, or for dinner and cocktails try Locale two blocks south (0.5 miles /850 meters).
