Apartment Rental: 4 months

1/ The floors are slanted. This makes it very uncomfortable to eat, study or do anything in the house. Also, you might get migraines. The furniture slowly move downwards as time goes on.
2/ The heating is terrible. It makes strange noises at night and heats way too much, making it extremely uncomfortable to sleep.
3/ The windows have no screens for mosquitos. I could not find a satisfactory resolution for the mosquitos and had to live with bites.
4/ The mattress of the bed is terrible. It is really low quality.
5/ There is usually garbage (and sometimes even rats) right before you enter the house. You know you are home from the garbage smell.
6/ The air conditioner is really loud and old. I couldn't sleep while it was on. Sometiems I had to turn it on at times to counteract the aggressive heating.
6/ It's overall a bad value for the money. Please don't live here.

Hello Cihan,

I am sorry that you did not appreciate living in the unit. However, I would like to answer you:

The "moving furniture" is a strange experience. It is the first time I ever heard of that.

I note that you are not satisfied when using the AC and the central heating. The AC is a window AC, and, as the unit overlooks the garden and is on the last floor, you may sleep with the open windows which is most of the time enough and pleasant. If you needed a mosquito net, you may ask me or buy one at the hardware store at the corner of the street. If you preferred not to use the central heating, I could provide you an electrical heater. However, nobody in the building ever complained about the heating.

The furniture is about one year old. The mattress is the same as others in the other units of the building and I have not received any complaint about it. It is semi firm, maybe are you used to softer mattresses but this is very personal.

The city of New York does not allow garbage in the streets, so there is no more garbage in front of the building than in front of others, otherwise the building gets a fine from the city. The street is nice, quiet and clean and I never saw any rat nor did the other tenants.

I am sorry, but it seems that you did not make any effort to communicate or to do a minimum of things by yourself such as placing a mosquito net ($7 on Amazon). When you told me you needed to end your lease one month earlier, I accepted with no penalty to please you.

We rent eleven units in this building and we like our tenants to be satisfied, which is the case for nearly all of them, however, it seems that we did not succeed with you, and I regret it.
