The listing is located in the Harlem section of New York in a brick-faced, pre-war, elevator building with a large lobby and a intercom security system.
The apartment has old-world charm, is located on the 6th floor, and measures 700 square feet. The entrance is located near the two rooms for rent, providing privacy. The apartment has hardwood floors throughout, and has either white or light colored walls.
Immediately upon entering the apartment, you are in a hall that leads you to bedroom#2, then bedroom#1, and ends with the living room. The hallway has a table for use by the roommates.
Bedroom#1 measures 100 square feet and is fully furnished with a queen-size bed and a mirrored headboard. There is a TV with cable, a ceiling fan, a bureau with 5 drawers and a mirrored dresser with 3 drawers. The room also has a closet, 2 windows, and a phone jack in the room.
Bedroom#2 measures 104 square feet and has a window, a double size bed. A 4-drawer bureau, and a TV with cable.
The living room has two windows and measures 200 square feet and is fully furnished. It has a sofa, an armchair and a dining table. The floors in the living room were originally painted in dark stripes with a red brick-faced wall giving the living room charm.
The bathroom is located next to the living room, and has a large window, a shower/tub, a sink, a large mirror and a WC. The mirror has beautiful lights making the bathroom very bright.
The kitchen is located next to the bathroom, and has a window and one red brick-faced wall. The kitchen is fully equipped with a refrigerator, a freezer, a stove/range, a microwave, and a toaster. The kitchen sink takes up the whole wall and has wooden cabinets on top.
For "the New York experience" walk (or in your case, live) in the historical neighborhood of Harlem. Passing through, you will see one of the founding areas of the civil rights and the Harlem renaissance movement.
A Harlem must see is the Apollo Theatre, which has presented a televised, musical and comedic amateur night, for over 50 years. People from all over the world sing, dance, or use comedy, to try to get their "BIG" break.
For students, City College and Columbia University are only a few subways stops away.
The building is situated 7 blocks from Central Park, and has access to lots of shopping, fast food and family-run restaurants, delis, grocery stores and other attractions.
Transportation: 2, 3 trains at 116th Street and Lenox Avenue or B, C trains on 116th Street and 8th Avenue.
