The apartment location is brilliant. The subway is only minutes away and there is an express train to downtown. You also get quite quickly to Times Square and other places of interest. There is even a laundry (24/7) nearby (about 200m) where you can do you washing comfortably (washing machine and dryer). I didn't try the washing machines in the building, I didn't find them very appealing.
Dec 19 2012The building and the apartment are old but in good condition. It's clean and you feel comfortable as long as you don't expect something modern. I found the people living in the building very kind and helpful. The roommate host is also very friendly and attentive. As regards the neighborhood, I felt safe (as a woman) even when going back home at night.
The apartment and the room are kept very clean and neat. I thought the view was great, a bit of greenery in front of the window is not bad.
Unfortunately, there's no kettle. But the tap water is drinkable, at least I've always drunk it.
I can only recommend this apartment.

Thank you for your kind words Nora. I do appreciate them. I am so glad my abode was a good part of your NYC experience. I know I was not here for most of your stay as I was away working, but I was glad to have met your needs and return in time to share some wine and talk.
Jan 30 2013I know my kitchen is a little low tech, but I am happy to report I have replaced the kettle. (My old kettle had worn out and it took me awhile to find a new one I liked.)
Glad you enjoyed the view of the "bit of greenery". It is a community garden I tend along with another neighbor. (That includes shoveling the sidewalks when it snows) And I do pride myself on keeping a very clean environment. I would not have it any other way.
I was so impressed that you took on NYC alone and saw so much and had such a good time doing it. How about all those chocolate shops and Brooklyn? And I know you will miss shopping here. It is fabulous. Sorry packing to leave was such a challenge. You are welcome to return any time.
The apartment itself was very spacious and clean. The owner was very hospitable and always willing to accommodate.
Jun 18 2012In terms of location, the apartment was so close to the A,B,C,D trains, less than 5 minutes walking distance. It is next to a lot of stores (pharmacy, general store, etc.) and grocery.
The park is across the street.
The people in the building are really friendly and treat you like family.
Love the owner and would definitely recommend going here.

My guest was just lovely. I was happy I could accommodate her beyond what I usually provide.
Jul 05 2012I am glad she was pleased
The apartment I had was pleasant because it was very big and even though the apartment was not the best located (far from the center), it was convenient for the subway. [The apartment in Harlem] was a quiet place which is rare in New York; so I enjoyed staying there and thanks New York Habitat; I was really happy.
