Please note that the heating system in this apartment is radiator steam which can cause loud clanging when in use during the cold season.
The owner of the appartment was constantly present. It was ennoying, because he limited your living space. He entered your rooms during the day. In my case he re-arranged the setup of my room, while I was living there. To me that's a disrepectful attitude towards somebodies privacy.

Thank you for your review Kevin. I am around the apartment almost everyday to clean up the sink and throw out the garbage. Regarding entering the guest's room, I entered only with permission and it was to show the room to a potential guest.
Dec 03 2012I asked the guest if I could organize the room and he agreed so I cleaned up the room before showing it as I could not have left it untidy when showing it to a potential guest.
beautiful house in the heart of harlem, nice and warm atmosphere. downside: bed in a very bad state difficult to have a good sleep, old and badly equipped kitchen, 1 bathroom for 6.. and the owner always home! ideal for a very short stay, not if you want a basic level of privacy and cleanliness!

Further to this review, the owner checked with the current tenant who commented that they did not have issues with the mattress. The frame is a traditional metal bed frame. The owner has added dishware to the kitchen. There is one bathroom that is shared with all 5 tenants of the apartment. This information is included in the apartment description. The bathrooms, kitchen and hallways are cleaned by a cleaning person who comes in once a week and whom the owner supervises. Between these times, tenants are expected to clean after themselves, and each tenants' room is their own responsibility. The owner also does all check-ins and checkouts.
Apr 23 2012For my next visit to NY, I'll go back to this brownstone.
Jan 09 2012The apartment [in Harlem] was wonderful. [The owner] was always quick to assist within anything that was needed. If returning to New York, I would stay there again.
