When you imagine the South Street Seaport area of downtown NYC, you do not expect to find an art-filled warehouse-turned-loft, but that is exactly where these bedrooms for rent are located! Found in a four-bedroom on the top floor of a 5-story landmark building with a buzzer/intercom system, this shared apartment provides a unique perspective on Manhattan living, just blocks from the East River.
This apartment has been decorated with a combination of modern and vintage furniture. Painted exposed brick adds charm to the space, which also enjoys rooftop access in the summer (shared amongst the residents of the building). The light-filled kitchen is fully equipped with all the appliances and dishes necessary for cooking at home, and there is also a washing machine. The living room features a flat screen television with cable. These rooms and the bathroom are shared with the roommates.
The first room for rent (Bedroom 1) carries the vibrant orange theme from the living room, and is furnished with a queen size bed situated next to the window. A desk, chair and shelving are also provided, creating a space to relax or work.
The second room for rent (Bedroom 2) is the largest bedroom, measuring about 400 square feet (approximately 37 SQM), with a walk-in closet for extra storage space. It is furnished with a queen size bed, armchair and shelves. Additionally there is an office alcove with a desk and chair.
The third room for rent (Bedroom 3) is furnished with a double size bed, a desk and a wardrobe for storage. Additionally there is an office alcove with a chair.
The South Seaport and Pier 17 are just as historically important to New York as Wall Street, Central Park or Times Square. The area around these rooms for rent features some of the oldest architecture in downtown Manhattan, and includes the largest concentration of restored early 19th-century commercial buildings in the city.
This includes renovated mercantile buildings, renovated sailing ships, and modern tourist malls featuring food, shopping and nightlife, with a view of the Brooklyn Bridge and the East River. At the entrance to the Seaport is the Titanic Memorial lighthouse.
The neighborhood offers attractions, shops and restaurants for every taste, just take a walk down South Street or Water Street! Enjoy coffee and the view at the acclaimed Bridge Cafe, located just under the Brooklyn Bridge, just over 2 blocks away (about 200m). Diverse year-round events are easily accessible by subway, car, ferry or bus. The nearest subway station is situated on Fulton Street, and provides a hub of transit options, with access to the 2/3 (red line), 4/5 (green line), A/C (blue line) and J/Z (brown line) trains, starting just over 1/4 of a mile (550m) from this apartment share, near the heart of the Financial District.

It did not affect me, per se, but my roommate next door, she had cockroaches in her room. Also: one bathroom for 5 people is not really enough. Overall, it was a pleasant stay. |

The tenants are great and the view form my room on the Brooklyn bridge was spectacular. The area is also great and offers a lot of restaurants and events in the summer. |

It was a pleasure to have Annina around and share a glass of wine on the roof on a hot summer night. It was sort of noisy for that area during part of Annina's stay since there was construction still going on to repair the damages post hurricane Sandy. We were one of the most affected area of Manhattan and it took 8 months to fix. The water went up 9 feet above the sidewalk in my street!!! It was just unbelievable. |

It lacks comfort to get a wash! Only one bathroom is clearly not enough... |
