These rooms for rent are in a four bedroom apartment that’s located on West 85th Street & Columbus Avenue in the Upper West Side of Manhattan, just one block from Central Park. The apartment is on the ground floor of an elevator brownstone building, dating from 1900 that has a buzzer / intercom system for security. The owner is renting out two of the four rooms.
The four bedroom apartment is a large unit (1500 sq feet / 140 m²) with high (14-foot / over 4 meter) ceilings that create a feeling of spaciousness and it is furnished in an eclectic style.
The first available room for rent (Bedroom 2) receives natural sunlight through a single window, which has northern exposure and offers courtyard views. The 150 sq ft (14 m²) bedroom for rent is lined with hardwood floors and is equipped with a closet with shelves and space to store your belongings. Because it furnished with a lofted double bed, there is more room below to use as an office space and a single sized fold down couch for seating and a sleeping option for company. A desk, chair and a dresser round out the room's furnishings, but please note that the television seen in the photos is NOT INCLUDED.
The second room for rent (Bedroom 3) is similarly spacious, a feeling that is enhanced by the lofted bed. There are hardwood floors, shelving and a desk below, and plenty of space in the sleeping area above (accessible via ladder). Please note that there is about 4'5'' (approx. 1.25m) of space between the ceiling and the lofted area.The lofted sleeping area will have a queen size mattress provided, as well as a single sized fold down couch for seating and a sleeping option for company. There is a mini fridge in the room as well.
The 220 sqf (20 sqm) 3rd room for rent (Bedroom 4) has a lot of character with its decorative fireplace and hardwood floors. It features a queen sized mattress, 4 windows, and built-in closets to store your belongings. Air condition is available upon request.
The apartment has two full shared bathrooms, with the main differences being that the first has a classic clawed bathtub and exposed brick wall, while the second one is more modern, with a combination bathtub-shower and tiled white walls. Each bathroom has a window with eastern exposure. The separate eat-in kitchen is fully equipped and conveniently features a washer/dryer. Wireless Internet access is available throughout.
Due to the size of this apartment; With 13 foot ceilings, your personal privacy is very much assured. Additionally the space is very quiet as the building , being built in 1888, has thick interior walls and faces the inside of the block with no street traffic of any kind.
Staying in the Upper West Side of New York is convenient because you will have immediate access to grocery stores, delis, and pharmacies all over the neighborhood. Central Park is just a block away and offers plentiful outdoor activities and attractions. Head to the Theodore Roosevelt Park (5 blocks) where you’ll find the Museum of Natural History, the Hayden Planetarium, and the Swedish Cottage Marionette Theatre. Go for a bite at Café Blossom on Columbus Avenue (3 blocks)—renowned for its delicious vegan dishes and pastries, or Sarabeth’s West on the corner of Amsterdam Avenue (6 blocks)—celebrated for its homey atmosphere and tasty brunches. Other popular neighborhood venues are the Lincoln Center (3 subway stops), where you can enjoy musical performances, and Columbus Circle (also 3 stops), a great shopping spot.
You will probably be eager to discover other parts of NYC: adjacent neighborhoods include Midtown West / Clinton, Morningside Heights, and Harlem. The nearest subway stations are 86 Street / Broadway (1 train), three blocks away, and 86 Street / Central Park West (B and C trains), two blocks away. Academic institutions, like Columbia University and New York University are both easily accessible, respectively 3 and 8 stops away.

The room was very nice and had everything I needed: a lot of storage space, a big closet, a nice little desk and a comfortable chair, a couch, a refrigerator, a personal WLAN router. |
