Live like a local in the East Village of Manhattan with this room for rent in a two bedroom apartment share!
Located on 1st Avenue between 7th Street and St Marks Place, the two bedroom apartment share sits in one of the trendiest areas of NYC, on the 3rd floor (considered 2nd in Europe) of a 4-story prewar walk-up building. The building is protected by a security system.
Please Note: This is a room to rent in an apartment share. Only the bedroom will be private. All other rooms will be shared with a roommate.
The private bedroom spans approximately 112sqft (10.4sqm) and boasts two windows that face the street. For your comfort, a double bed and a desk are included.
All other rooms are shared with a roommate. The shared living room embraces a bohemian vibe, featuring unique artwork, colorfully packed bookshelves and a sofa. A small, shared kitchen area provides an oven with four electric burners, a toaster, a fridge with freezer and ample cabinetry. A window provides ventilation. There is also a shared bathroom with full-sized tub/shower and toilet.
The East Village is known by locals as an NYC hotspot for bars, clubs, restaurants and eclectic shops. A safe distance from the tourist-swarmed streets of Midtown, this area is a haven for hipsters, punks, artists and flower children – and the neighborhood caters to such a crowd! While here, be sure to live like a local by relaxing in Tompkins Square Park (0.2mi/260m), touring the New Museum (0.7mi/1.1km) and eating out at trendy restaurants Café Mogador (404ft/120m) and Paprika (499ft/150m). Walk along St. Marks Place to find some of the best thrift stores and alternative shops in Manhattan. Students will especially love this roommate share, as it is near New York University (0.7mi/1.1km), The New School (.8mi/1.3km) and Cooper Union (0.1mi/160m).
Public transportation around Manhattan and into other New York boroughs is easy from here. Consider walking to the following subway stations:

Living with Anne was wonderful - as a host and housemate Anne is generous, kind and an interesting person. She went out of her way to make me feel welcome and informed about the city, and I had a great time living with her. The location of the apartment is excellent and I found it very easy to navigate the city from such a central area. Anne has specific requirements about coming and going as she works from home, however I found that with a bit of intuition, respect and open communication she was very accommodating, and considering I was studying and spent a lot of time at university, the arrangement worked well for both of us. The apartment itself is old and in need of repairs, however it is kept immaculately by Anne and I found it to be a very homely environment. The room is large and clean, however with windows straight onto 1st Ave it is very loud all night long. |

Anna, thank you for your review, it was very nice living with you. This apartment building is around 120 yrs old. It is kept up as best as it can by the landlord. Anna, you are accurate about the noise from First Ave- |

The appartment was big and the room was also big and with a lot of light! The roomate was a great person. What I would change was that it was not really clean and also that it was messy. |

The best part of the apartment share is the room you get is pretty large. The room doesn't have the best privacy because it closes with sliding closet doors so you cannot lock the room. Do not expect to share the entire apartment or to even cook. The appliances are really old and so that makes the kitchen kinda gross. If you are a social person who likes to have people over don't live here because the owner is uncomfortable with social situations. If you just need a place to sleep and don't care about the above then definitely rent this apartment. The roommate is a kind hearted person. |

Thank you for the review, Michelle! Glad to hear you liked the big bedroom. It is true that the bedroom door doesn't lock, but the room is of course your private space and I never go there. |
