Staten Island is the most residential of New York’s five boroughs, but that does not mean that there is a shortage of things to do. Check out Brady’s Pond Park (0.7 mi/1.1 km), one of the borough’s tucked away natural gems, it is a city sanctuary for strolling and relaxing, centered around a beautiful freshwater pond. Only 1.5 miles away (2.4 km) is the Franklin D. Roosevelt Boardwalk, alternately referred to as the South Beach boardwalk, giving you access to Staten Island’s famous South Beach, and numerous beachfront grills and shopping. Groceries are easily obtained, with the Met Food grocery store (0.5 mi/0.8 km) right around the corner. The Garibaldi-Meucci Museum (1.6 mi/2.6 km) is an 1840’s era Gothic Revival Cottage, that was home to both the inventor and candle maker Antonio Meucci, as well as the Italian revolutionary and political leader Giuseppe Garibaldi.
This house makes access to New York’s other boroughs simple and quick. Only three train stops from the Staten Island Ferry (.3mi/450m) is the Grasmere station on the Staten Island Railroad, convenient for transit into Manhattan.
