I am a 20yo student from Sydney. I stayed in this gorgeous space for 4 weeks prior to my start at university.
I couldn't have imagined how perfect the apartment and the neighborhood was for my stay.
Mary was helpful and respectfully gave me distance to study.
I love Fort Greene and I love Mary.
Thank you
Stella

I stayed with Mary and John in their beautiful home for four months while I undertook an internship in Midtown. The bedroom and bathroom are spacious, bright and lovingly maintained to highlight the historical intricacies. Mary was especially supportive during the coronavirus lockdown as I was far from home, though she was never overbearing or unwelcome. I enjoyed our conversations and her advice, but she never intruded on my privacy. For a lone traveller interested in New York City, history and the arts, Mary is the most wonderful host and storyteller. The neighbourhood is vibrant and welcoming, comprising countless restaurants and stores on Myrtle Avenue, and a community of lifelong residents and newcomers. Fort Greene Park, where I spent many afternoons running, walking and people-watching, is not far away. I hope to stay again someday soon.

I spent 4 months with Mary and John in Brooklyn and felt very comfortable.
My stay at Mary's house in Brooklyn was very nice. I had the best time and can recommend it to anyone who wants to stay in a nice room with great landlords.
On my arrival I was warmly welcomed by Mary and John and immediately felt comfortable. The room is quite big and offers everything you need to feel at home. It has a big bed, two wardrobes, a chest of drawers, a desk and a nice living room table where you can sit and relax. There is also a television, a mini fridge and a kettle.
The room is located on the mezzanine floor, as is the bathroom. I had it practically for myself, except when mary has visitors. Everything is very clean and super lovingly furnished.
Mary was always very friendly to me and is a great woman. She has left me complete privacy, but if I needed anything I could always turn to her. She has given me many great tips to find my way around Brooklyn. When I had visitors she was also very nice and open to them. All in all Mary is a great and hospitable landlady.
The location is also good. There are several buses in the direct surroundings. (2-5 walking minutes) You have everything you need for living and many nice restaurants. The street is also very quiet, which is good because the room faces the street.

All in all I had a time that could not have been better. I would go back to her anytime and can recommend it to everybody.

I stayed here for about a year and if I had a chance I would stay for many more years.

About the location, you can take the bus which has a stop about 100 meters away from the house to go to Metrotech station which will take you to anywhere in New York.

About cleaning, Mary will provide you with a vacuum so the cleanness of the room is in your hands. I never saw any bugs neither in my room or in the toilet.

About the condition of the building, it is old but
Mary is a great landlord who takes care of any little problem you might have with the room.

I never had a problem with loudness.

Additionally, she really respects your privacy, so do not have any questions in your mind with the fact that you are living with your landlord.

I never locked my room and I trust her and her family to the highest extent.

My only regret is for not being able to get to know each other a lot. Thank you for everything :)
