Right across the street from the apartment is a grocery store, pharmacy, post office, and Chase Bank. Down on East 86th Street is a bustling shopping center with stores including Sephora, Barnes and Noble, and Whole Foods (0.3mi/500m). Have brunch at the Barking Dog and a strong classic New York-style gin martini at The District (both 0.1mi/190m).
Train service in the neighborhood includes the local 6 train at 96 Street / Lexington Avenue (0.3mi/500m), the 4/5 express train and local 6 train at 86 Street / Lexington Avenue (0.4mi/600m). The long-awaited 2nd Avenue express train is now open at 96 Street / 2 Avenue where you can take the Q express train (0.3mi/550m). Yellow taxis can also be hailed at all times, day or night.
