Description
Room for Rent 2 Bedroom apartment in Upper West Side (NY-6868)
2 Bedrooms, 1 Bathroom - Sleeps

Housed in a beautiful prewar building in the West 70's on Manhattan’s storied Upper West Side, this shared two bedroom apartment with one bathroom is an informed and economic choice for your stay in New York City. This second floor walkup (considered first floor by Europeans) apartment share features the choice of two furnished rooms for rent, with each of the rooms of the apartment connected by a long hallway that runs the length of the apartment.

The furnishings of both the first and second rooms for rent include a full bed and built in closet. You might notice a door connecting the first bedroom to your roommate’s space next door. Rest assured that this door is not in use and remains locked at all times. The other common areas of this space are the kitchen and bathroom, both of which include all the basics. Lovely hardwood floors unite the apartment, and wireless internet is also available.

Please note that the room marked as Unavailable on the floorplan is used for storage, and unavailable to tenants.

One of New York’s most desirable neighborhoods, the Upper West Side is historic, yet completely modern. Don’t be surprised if you recognize some of the sights and buildings. Chances are one of your favorite movies or television shows was filmed here! Just two blocks away is the Museum of Natural History, the perfect place to spend a rainy afternoon. You are also blocks from both Central Park and Riverside Park, two of Manhattan’s signature green spaces that feature a variety of recreational activities and are the perfect respite from the bustling cityscape.

Your neighborhood also features amazing shopping and dining options. Many New Yorkers swear that Shake Shack, which you’ll find a block and a half away on West 77th Street and Central Park West is the In n Out Burger of the East Coast, and the lines that are at times out the door certainly attest to its popularity. Whether it’s a gourmet cupcake, Indian, or a great place to watch the game you’re looking for, you’ll find it all here and a short distance from your apartment. Best of all, if you like to cook you’ll love Fairway Market, perhaps NYC’s most beloved grocery chain located a quick walk from your apartment on West 72nd Street and Broadway. Here you’ll find quite possibly the best selection of produce, meats, and baked goods in the city, and if you don’t feel like cooking be sure to try the expansive prepared foods selection.

There are several subway stops nearby. The 1 train at 79th Street and Broadway and the B and C trains at 81st Street and Central Park West both run along the west side of Manhattan, with the latter two providing continuing service to Brooklyn.

My overall experience of living in this apartment for 3 months was very positive. The apartment had a great location in a safe neighbourhood with a metro station around the corner. The landlord was very kind and it was great living with her. Her prompt responsiveness and willingness to address any questions or concerns in regard to the apartment made it an overall positive experience.

Hello,
To give you a very objective opinion, my stay was mixed. Indeed, several elements have never been mentioned and it surprised me because I could not be my room when I wanted. I was very disappointed that I was never informed that I could not be in the apartment from 8am to 6pm. This is not acceptable when you pay 1200 dollars per month if you don't have access when you want to your belongings and your room. This is not normal. I could not go to the kitchen, nor the bathroom or even the entrance of the apartment or I would have some unpleasant remarks.

Thérésa is a friendly person who took time to explain me how life is in NYC and to talk from time to time.

However, as stated before, these information which seem to me essential when agreeing to stay in the apartment were never specified to me. I find it pretty bad to force me to follow schedules of entry or exit in the apartment. Paying an amount of 1200 dollars per month, I could not have access to my room and therefore my belongings whenever I wanted.
I am therefore not really satisfied with my stay in this apartment and I regret there were hidden information I have discovered all along my stay.

Hello Charline,

It saddens and surprises me to hear you say you felt that way. Per discussed at the beginning of your stay, and in our initial conversations, I work from home and so prefer to have young professionals as tenants as it has proved to be very compatible. You said you would have an internship for a large part of your stay so I had every reason to believe it would work out. At no point were you denied access to your belongings nor did our arrangement change from the beginning. Perhaps there was a ?lost in translation,? moment that was not pinpointed and discussed immediately.

I would just like the common area to be peaceful and free of distraction while I work during day hours. I wish you would've communicated your feelings during your stay since I was under the impression that you enjoyed your stay, your brother was welcome and you seemed to appreciated the time and expertise you asked of me during your application process for higher education. Receiving these repeated strong words after six months has been distressing.

I wish you the very best and hope you enjoy future travels.

Best of Luck,

Teressa

My stay at the apartment of Teressa was gorgeous. She helped me a lot to explore New York and the people who are living there. Additionally she supported me to enhance my English and my general performance of being self-confident in dealing with another language.
When you are taking this apartment you will be getting a warm welcome and a perfect place to live in one of the most gigantic cities of our planet.

I had a very comfortable time at Ms. Vallas apartment. Its a clean and a perfectly situated apartment situated 1.5 away from the Metro and has a 24 hr grocery store and pharmacy right opposite the building. Best decision of my summer.
