Jul 25 2012Vacation rental with an ideal location in New York. Several subway lines nearby. Its location on the garden side brings the peace and quiet you need after a day exploring the city. Tony's welcome was perfect, lots of material and city maps were provided. For our 15 day stay, the cleaning was done half way through the stay, the towels and sheets were changed.
May 16 2012I recommend this vacation rental to couples who wish for an authentic discovery of the city. Just the bathroom would deserve some redecorating.

Nov 13 2012Nothing to complain about regarding the accommodation owner's hospitality, he was very kind and helpful. The apartment is very small but has all the comforts. Surely the furnishings can be improved and, above all, the cleanliness (there were roaches).

All apartments are cleaned and inspected. NYC has roaches and buildings are next to each other. We spray every year. If food is left out, they will come. We know this because no one lives full time in our rentals. There is no food or edibles when they are not rented. Roaches and cleanliness do not necessarily have anything to do with one another. You can put poison everywhere and they will still come if people leave food out. Your structural improvement suggestion will be taken under advisement.

Mar 07 2012The owner was extremely helpful and had some information printed out in the apartment for our benefit. As we were staying for 2 weeks, they kindly organised for the cleaner to come after 1 week and the place was immaculate, new sheets, bathroom cleaned and dishes washed.
Feb 04 2012The building is in a fantastic location, I had no idea the East Village was such a perfect place to stay with many restaurants, bars and small shops.
The accommodation was by no means anything flashy, but clean and comfortable. All the descriptions were accurate. It is a small apartment, but for 2 people on holidays who are not spending a lot of time in the apartment, it was perfect.
The only complaint I have which was no huge issue, was a kettle would have been useful rather than boiling water in a saucepan.

Feb 06 2012We really enjoyed our stay at this accommodation. It is a little bit taller than a 2* Hotel and therefore more than enough for us 2 friends. The person taking caring of the apartment was very nice and gave us useful tips. The neighborhood is great, the apartment was quiet, no honking cars but close to supermarkets, Starbucks, DD, KFC, McDo and the subway. We even get tulips when we arrived :)
Jan 03 2012Small studio apartment ideally situated in East Village, only 5 minutes away from the subway and in a lively neighborhood with many restaurants, bars and supermarkets. The accommodation is located in a small, very quiet building, overlooking a yard, which helps have restful nights, far but the street noise.
Dec 30 2011Although small, the accommodation offers nice facilities: the bathroom is spacious and well laid out; the kitchen corner provides everything you might need to prepare breakfast and a quick meal; quality bedding.
Tony's warm welcome when we arrived was a pleasure: I really want to point out host was extremely helpful, he replied to every single email we sent him before our trip and was always available for us when we were in New York. However, we were quite disappointed to see the cleaning had not been thoroughly done (especially in the bathroom and the restroom).
Also, although the apartment is nice, it could do with a little sprucing up (no ventilation grill in the bathroom, bare light bulbs in the living room...): such little details didn't stop up from having a very nice stay in New York and we would recommend this vacation rental to our relatives.

The owner's rep would like to let everyone know that he takes cleanliness issues very seriously and has made new arrangements for the apartment cleaning. He also made a note of the suggestions offered to improve the quality of the rental (lights, ventilation grills).
Jan 06 2012Apartment a bit small but sufficient for 2, comfortable and in a good location. The neighborhood is well served by subway and bus; and there are many restaurants as diverse as they are good. Very nice welcome from Tony who is as helpful as he's cheerful.

Nov 08 2011Location was handy and close to everything we needed. Building looked a bit off but that was understandable as work was being done on it and it didn't effect us at all.
The apartment was clean, comfortable and generally very quiet (the only noise we heard were coming from the street and the street was quiet for a New York street). It was also well situated (close to buses, subway, restaurants and convenience stores).
Oct 24 2011The person that welcomed us was very kind, generous, available and accommodating. He could easily be reached and he gave us a lot of information on how to get around in the city, where to find good restaurants and stores and other useful tips for first time travelers.
If we were to visit New York city again, we would probably choose to rent the same apartment.
Great apt very good location in a lively neighborhood with everything close by (bus, subway to main sites, restaurants, jazz clubs, supermarket...)

The vacation rental is well located in East Village, a very nice neighborhood with the subway close by. The studio apartment is small but fully functional and totally matched our expectations. As it was a two-week stay, a cleaning lady came by to clean the accommodation, change the sheets and towels. WiFi is provided.

May 27 2011accommodation is very small, especially the kitchen (1 square m!!!) and most basic. electrics messy. for 2 who only have breakfast and don't bother cooking...
new coat of paint would be good.. a window handle could be changed and the shower would be better with a door rather than a curtain.
torrential rain on the bow window woke us up as it was very noisy... but who to blame?!!!

Very happy with this vacation rental; excellent value; very warm welcome from the owner Tony. Accommodation is ideally located, very clean, very well equipped; closet space to put clothes away is bit tight but for the week it was fine. Dec 15 2010I enjoyed my stay at the East Village vacation rental apartment very much. The apartment was just right for my purposes, and it was clean so I have no complaints. The guy who was my contact was very helpful too.
Nov 09 2010The apartment was very nice. We loved the position in the East Village. Close to the metro, to supermarket and all the bars and restaurants! It is well equipped with television, a small kitchen with everything you may need, a small closet, telephone, extra sheets and towels. Moreover we had a laptop and Internet connection with a small additional charge.
Nov 04 2010The man that showed us the studio was very friendly and helpful. He even gave us a great map of NYC. The price was good also. The only thing I didn't like was the cleanliness. When we went in, it wasn't dirty but not spotlessly clean either especially the kitchen (the refrigerator, the kettles, the plates) and the bathroom. In any case we would recommend that apartment 100%!

Further to this review, we contacted the owner of this apartment who confirmed that he has spoken to the cleaning staff and reminded them to be mindful of everything and to be sure that the entire apartment is being cleaned to a high standard.
Nov 18 2010The East Village vacation rental apartment I rented was OK. Unfortunately the weather was so horribly hot, I think the air conditioner in this tiny place could be replaced. In hindsight I should have checked more into the apartment to make sure it was on the street side as I personally felt very closed in. I guess I like to see outside and see people. Just my personal choice.

Aug 24 2010We greatly enjoyed our visit to New York. Our [East Village] apartment was just as advertised: perfect location and it had everything we needed. Our host was very welcoming and helpful, even when we texted him at midnight to let him know that we had locked ourselves out of the building (oops). There were restaurant suggestions provided that were very good. The bed is a bit uncomfortable, but everything else was perfect.

Dec 29 2009The apartment has a great location, restaurants, bars, shops and stores, metro access (10mn walk), perfect to feel a real New Yorker the time of our stay: with a strong American looking, great!
Inside it's not so big, but exactly what expected, perfect for a couple for a week: Peaceful, view on the back, small shower, TV, computer, bed could be better, clean, very friendly neighbors, books brochures and information's about everything in NY(very helpful!!), phone, free WIFI.
[The vacation rental owner's representative] has been our connection for the apartment, great guy, he resolved for us in 10mn the collect of basketball tickets for a match already sold...he has been present but not too much just perfect, only when we need. Thanks [...]!!
Conclusion I'll call you again for my next stay in New York
I am very satisfied of the services provided by New york Habitat and the apartment we rent was exactly what we expected : clean, calm, with all equipment necessary. The person in charge of the [vacation rental] was very welcoming and available for any information. The neighborhood is also very pleasant and living with lots of restaurants, bars and different subways. I really recommend this place for those who wants to have an authentic point of view on New Yorkers way of life.

We also enjoyed the lively area and the atmosphere of St. Marks Place and the East Village and the easy access to the subway system.

May 13 2009We had a wonderful stay in New York in the apartment we rented in the East Village. The owner of the apartment [...] was really nice and helpful. As a welcome "present", he gave us a very useful free map of New York and of the neighborhood including a long list of good restaurants, shops and bars in the area. Also he was always available for questions (we communicated via e-mail).
Apr 09 2009The studio itself was larger than expected, the bed was good, the bathroom and shower were clean and good as well and it was wonderful to have free wi-fi and a great television (which we didn't use). The only little thing I could complain about was the noisy steam heating which is probably typical for an old New York apartment - but we got used to that pretty soon.
The price of the apartment is definitely unbeatable for the location. I am very satisfied with New York Habitat and with my stay in the apartment in New York and will recommend it to friends and family whenever someone is looking for a place in New York, Paris or London. Thanks a lot.
