Description
4 Bedroom Vacation Rental in Park Slope (NY-14755)
4 Bedrooms - Duplex, 3 Bathrooms - Sleeps 9

This generous 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom apartment for vacation rental is located in the trendy neighborhood of Park Slope, Brooklyn. Situated on 4th Street & 6th Avenue, and perched upon the third and fourth floors (considered 2nd and 3rd in Europe) of a four-story walk-up brownstone, this duplex provides a calming atmosphere on a residential block (as well as nearby popular attractions and subway stations). To ensure privacy and convenience, this 19th century building includes a buzzer/intercom system for all residents.

The impressive home- large, fully furnished, and ideally placed - provides a great living space for those who appreciate both the busy city and the peaceful environment of a residential street. Wooden floors line the base of this 2-story apartment and add to the tasteful appearance of the home as a whole. The 250sqft (23.3sqm) living room includes a long sofa with decorative pillows, fireplace, and a coffee table providing surface space for personal items. A dining table with five chairs sits nearest to the kitchen, and a cable television hangs from the wall above. The elegant kitchen is separated by a wall (no door) and includes most cooking necessities. These include appliances such as a freezer, oven, microwave, coffeemaker, toaster, dishwasher, and fridge.

A total of THREE bathrooms are spread throughout the apartment! This feature is great for larger parties or families – who know the value of multiple wash rooms (more time for everyone to focus on their outfit!). Replicating the classy ambiance of the rest of the house, each bathroom is decorated simply and polished. Each one contains a shower, tub, fresh towels, sinks and toilet.

All bedrooms are similar in appearance. Provided in the rooms are fresh sheets, closet space, mirrors, and windows facing the residential street (except the Bedroom 4, which views the garden.) Cable televisions are provided in all bedrooms except the Bedroom 1. The first bedroom provides a queen sized bed, as do both Bedrooms 3 and 4. Bedroom 2 is the exception, with a single size bed.

Please note that the apartment has narrow, steep stairs that may not be suitable for the elderly.

Provided below is a list of must-see attractions nearby this four bedroom vacation rental:

  • Prospect Park – approx. 1 mile (1.6km) from the apartment, one of New York City's largest!
  • Prospect Park Zoo
  • Southpaw – an eclectic concert venue at 125 Fifth Avenue.
  • The Rock Shop – concert venue/bar at 249 Fourth Avenue (1/2 miles or 800 meters away).
  • Union Hall – Hipster bar known for its bocce courts on Union Avenue and 5th Avenue
  • Odd Twin Trading Company & Guvnor’s Vintage Thrift – just two examples of the large selection of vintage shops in the area.
  • Gorilla Coffee – 100% organic, Brooklyn-roasted coffee at 97 Fifth Ave.
  • Al di La – Italian Restaurant at 248 Fifth Avenue, renowned in the area for their Northern Italian fare
  • Bierkraft – Beer emporium at 191 Fifth Ave.

For public transportation around Brooklyn and into Manhattan, walk half a mile (.8 km) from this vacation accommodation to 4th Avenue and 9th Street to catch the F, G, or R trains. You can also walk to 7th Avenue and 9th Street to hop on the F or G trains. The layout of this apartment is perfect - it is very comfortable - nothing is missing - everything is well designed to have a very good stay - very clean - very quiet area - no lack of privacy: bedrooms are separate, spacious, soundproofed, well-equipped and with very good bedding - perfect for family vacation - significant detail: you can store your luggage on the day of check-out at 11 am when your plane only takes off at 10 pm - so we had the opportunity to explore Brooklyn before going to the airport in the evening - in a word: PERFECT -

Clean, well heated and well-equipped apartment

a 15-minute walk from the closest subway station.

The owners kindly offered us to store our luggage on our last day.

At 9.30 pm, we had a problem with the toilets which were clogged, it was solved in the next 30 minutes.

Meeting with the owners was quick but acceptable.

I want to thank you Francois for staying with us. I apologize for the radiator for being dusty. It was a small oversight that we won?t let it happen again. Thanks again

This apartment is ideally located in Brooklyn. We appreciated this neighborhood filled with restaurants, bars and shops but without Manhattan's frenzy that we loved by the way. Our host was really receptive and efficient, she answered our questions despite our "very basic" English. Really recommended.

The house is in keeping with the pictures of New York Habitat's website, and is even prettier.
It is very functional. We were a group of 10 and each group formed before departure had its own privacy thanks to bathroom and toilets in each bedroom, which is a rather substantial asset when you live in a community.
Neighborhood is very very quiet, which is enjoyable after spending the day in the noisy Manhattan. There are a lot of shops nearby and subway station is a 10-minute walk.
The owner was very nice, I would assign a 10 out of 10 to Brandon, the owner's son, who helped us a lot as we were not fluent enough in English to speak to the shuttle's driver when we left for JFK. Keep in mind though that shuttles do not serve Brooklyn and that Super Shuttle is only looking to sell tickets.
So thank you Brandon for your help and kindness.
Our next stay to New York will be in this house.

This nice apartment has a good size (9 beds and 3 bathrooms). To make it perfect, it could be equipped with a washing machine... The only minor drawback was the fridge's motor in the kitchen which ran constantly and produced a quite unpleasant heat.

Aug 19 2016

Dear Claire,
Thank you for staying with us.
I'm sorry you were not happy with the noise for the refrigerator. We never had a complaint about the refrigerator. We are looking to buy a new refrigerator soon to replace the older one in the apartment.
As for the suggestion for the wash machine. I'm sorry but we don't have any space for a wash machine/dryer. We have many places in the neighborhood that can handle any washing you will need for your clothes. We have a list of places where the guests could go and use a wash machine. It is was only a block away from the apartment.
Best.

We will keep a very good memory of this apartment in which we spent 10 days. It is great for families and groups. Very nice volumes, four bedrooms and three bathrooms. Fully equipped kitchen. Very well located, close to the subway station to Manhattan or Coney Island, Barclays Center and Prospect Park. The neighborhood is pleasant and you can eat in a different restaurant every night.

We were a group of 8 women who rented the apartment for 6 days in March 2016. It was located in beautiful Park Slope Brooklyn on a quiet street. It was an easy walk to 2 different subway stops. The apartment was a Brooklyn brownstone and was exactly as pictured and in very clean condition. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this rental. We would rent it again.

There were not any real negatives. The stairs up to the rooms were long and a little steep. This might be an issue for some, but we had no problems with this. The towels could have been bigger and fluffier, but again many towels were provided so this was not a real issue. The furniture could be a little more modern for a luxury experience, but here I'm just listing suggestions not criticisms.

The place was great. Four bedrooms, three bathrooms, kitchen, and living room all for a good rate. Go ahead and book it. You won't regret it.

Sue, you and your guests were great to have. You left our apartment in great shape and were very respectful. We have simple furniture because we mostly rent the apartment for families with children of all ages. I'm sorry if you wanted a luxury experience and didn't receive it but we were happy to have you.
Thanks,

Thank you for your honest feedback, Sue. Please note that we clearly state in the description that the apartment has narrow, steep stairs that may not be suitable for everyone. We are pleased to see that this was not an issue for you and that you enjoyed your time in the apartment.

Answer by: Accommodation Owner
Jul 24 2015

Lizbet, you and your family were great guests. I'm happy you enjoyed your stay. I understand your concern about the stairs. But in NYC the building are built tall and high becuase space is very limited. If you or anyone else have an issue for walking up stairs you should ask how many stairs are there to enter the apartment. We cant change the design of the house becuase it was created 18 years after the civil war and we cant add an elevator becuase their is no room for it.
Thanks,
Brenda

We had a very nice stay in this apartment. We were a group of 8 and the 4 bedrooms were fine. It was very convenient: kitchen, air conditioning and fan. We all had our own privacy as there were several keys available. The apartment is ideally located, next to the subway station (about 800 meters from the R line). The neighborhood is very quiet.

The landlady was very nice.

PS: you'd better have enough cash with you as the deposit and the remaining of the rent must be paid in cash at arrival

Very nice accommodation for 7 to 9 people. Great neighborhood: beautiful houses, quiet, family oriented, stores, many bars and restaurants.

Very helpful, efficient and discreet caretakers who live on the ground floor.

Only "downside": the subway is about 800 meters away; but it gives you the opportunity to walk through the neighborhood to get there. Direct connection to Manhattan or Queens.

In addition 2 elevated subway stations offer views of Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty.

I'm happy you were able to enjoy your stay in Park Slope. I'm sorry that the subway was to far walk for you. We have no control where they train station was built.

The house was built in the 1880s so the train station was built a while after that. But there are other places in Brooklyn where you will have to take a bus just to be close enough to get on the train.

In NYC it was designed for people to walk and for people to take mass transit.

We were in Brooklyn with 7 people for 8 days and felt very comfortable. We'd definitely stay in this apartment again. The hosts live in the house and were always very responsive when we had questions. The photos of the apartment match reality, the rooms were big enough and fully equipped.

It takes about 35-40 minutes to reach Manhattan, plus 10 minutes to walk to the station. Lines F or R take you to the major places without changing trains. On the way back, you come to a supermarket, a drugstore and lots of nice restaurants and pubs where to spend the end of the day. Otherwise the neighborhood seemed to be quiet and safe. We use the well-equipped kitchen / dining room to share breakfast and to store drinks for a nightcap on the sofa.

Of course the apartment is a bit remote but in exchange, it is big and excellent value for money! I've already seen other accommodations, more centrally located... but that also meant they were tiny. On top of that, I'd like to add that it is a real luxury in NYC when you have three bathrooms at your disposal.

I can warmly recommend this accommodation!

This lovely, spacious apartment in a classic Park Slope brownstone was perfect for our multigenerational family group. The owner was very pleasant, but there was no need to ask for help because the apartment was in excellent order.

The neighborhood is wonderful, with an abundance of good restaurants and interesting shops (don't miss Community Bookstore and Clay Pot!) as well as easy subway access to Manhattan. We enjoyed wandering through Prospect Park, just a short walk from the apartment.

We would certainly return to this special spot!

We had an excellent stay. The accommodation on two floors and 4 bedrooms is very user-friendly and allows for privacy when you are a party of several families with several children over 18, which was the case for us.

The hosts are charming and very discreet. He lives nearby, which can be useful should there be a problem.

I highly recommend this vacation rental, even if it is a bit far from Manhattan. The rides are easily manageable with the subway and the neighborhood is very quiet, which is nice after a day sightseeing.

I would suggest to prepare written indication regarding subways station, shops, laundry services etc. to hand out to guests when arriving, together with a map of the area (and I mean of the two or three blocks around the house, where to find the subway station, the supermarket etc. very simple indications).

The inspection of the apartment at the end of the stay seemed like a punishment, but in general the experience was very pleasant, the apartment met our requirements and we had a very nice stay.

Wonderful experience. The owner was very kind, courteous and helpful (hardly had we arrived on the 1st evening, he took us to the supermarket to show us the way and on our departure day he called a taxi for us).

Park Slope is really as very nice and very quiet neighborhood, we should just point out that it takes about 15 min to reach the nearest subway station, but that's a trifle.

The only little downside in the apartment layout (and we didn't get it when we watched the video on NY Habitat website) was to realize when you got there that the sitting room and the kitchen are located right on top floor! after a long day walking and with young children it's a bit tough but you very quickly get used to it!

It is a really beautiful vacation rental, we'll certainly go back!
