The apartment was lovely. The kitchen was so well appointed and perfect for what we needed with the island and open spaces.

The 2 full bathrooms were ideal since we had 5 people and a wedding and other events to get ready for so that provided a needed convenience.

Two suggestions. The 2 rooms with the loft single beds were not very convenient or accessible to the adult who needed one. The pull out couch upstairs offered a bed that was needed and was very comfortable but the loft beds were difficult to access for any adult.

I should have been clearer and asked for the blow up mattresses. Also any working TV with some cable access would have been a nice addition. I know you offered to give instructions on using the sound system but honestly it was intimidating and I did not want anyone to touch your things. I knew there was a TV upstairs from the pictures but it was not able to be used. I guess I made an assumption that there would be one available.

Two of the guests have jobs with college athletics and needed to see a game. Other than that no issues at all. It was beautiful and having multiple sets of keys made it easy for everyone to come and go.

The location was very convenient to subways and shopping. We enjoyed being able to gather there. Jaci was very accommodating and helpful.

Thank you.

Dear Candace,

Thank you for taking the time to write your thoughtful and positive review. It helps us to make staying in our home more enjoyable for others. I'd like to address two points that you brought up:

Regarding the beds: We are sorry that you had trouble with the bed. We wish you had called us to let us know, so we could have told you where the air mattresses were stored. We give our contact information to our guests so please do not hesitate to call us next time if questions arise, as we are always available to help.

Regarding the TV: Our listing was inaccurate regarding our TV situation, and we apologize for this and for the inconvenience that it caused. Our TV situation has recently changed, (we used to get all network channels on the TV, and now we get fewer of them through using a digital converter box).

It was an oversight on our part to not have our listing updated to reflect that, and to not have left you instructions on how to use the digital converter box to get the channels that we can get. We will have this change made and keep our listing updated to reflect our current TV situation.

We are very glad that you had an overall good experience staying here, and thank you again for taking the time to write your helpful review.

Best,

Kay and Ioanis

The apartment is in a quiet and well-located area. It is very spacious and decorated in an avant-garde style. The owners, whom we had the pleasure of meeting, were very pleasant and proper at all times.

The only areas for improvement are:
-Cleanliness (countertop / kitchen table was dirty, as was the bathroom sink on the lower floor) and the bedding was very wrinkled.
-Two of the mattresses were air mattresses and were lying on the floor, so they were not at all comfortable.

Thank you for your comments. It is very important to us that guests are comfortable in our home. We will address each of your concerns below:

If the cleaning service did not do a thorough job before you came, we apologize for that. We will certainly bring your comments to their attention. (We were out of the country when you arrived and so did not see the condition of the apartment when began your stay here.) Our counters are marble and limestone. The surfaces are not highly polished. It may be that what looked unclean was simply marks due to the stone's absorption of water and other liquids. Also, the table (a pedestal table designed by Eero Saarinen) has been in use for nearly 50 years, and even when clean has some marks and unevenness in coloration due to its age.

As described in our NY Habitat listing, we have 2 queen sized beds and 2 twin (single) loft beds. In order to house a maximum of 8 guests, we use 2 twin Aero Beds, which are included in our listing as "Extra Bedding Upon Request". These beds are usually used under the loft beds for children, and in this way allow up to 4 children to stay in our home.

Our sheets are all 100% cotton. The sheets for the master bedroom are made from 100% organically grown cotton (grown in the USA). After our sheets are cleaned and dried, they are wrinkled, especially the ones made from organically grown cotton. We are considering what you said--we don't mind wrinkled sheets, but recognize that many people may prefer sheets without wrinkles.
In order to provide wrinkle-free sheets, we have two options. We would have to either significantly raise our cleaning fee in order to pay for the ironing of many sets of sheets, or, provide the option of polyester blend sheets which are wrinkle-free. We will consult with NY Habitat on this matter.

After carefully considering the sheet issue, we have decided to stay with the sheets that we have. We are concerned that polyester blend sheets will pill (get bumpy), and we also feel that many guests would prefer 100% cotton sheets with some wrinkles, over polyester ones.

It would get too confusing to give each set of guests a choice of sheets. So, prospective guests who are reading this, you can expect nice soft sheets that do have some wrinkles.

Lovely family home in a very nice location, close to a park and subway. The communication with the owners was welcoming and friendly and the house and kitchen very well equipped.

The outside deck was a lovely space and the house very light with skylights and many windows, giving a real sense of space indoors. The owners left ample keys so that we could do things independently.

I would definitely recommend this accommodation.
