One bedroom apartment in Boerum Hill
|
Location: State Street between Bond and Nevins in the Boerum Hill section of Brooklyn, near downtown Brooklyn
Size: 2 bedrooms, one of which is presently used as an office, one bath, approx. 1100 square feet.
Building: The apartment occupies entire second floor of a four-story brick co-op building, which boasts many pretty flowering plants around its entrance. No elevator. State Street is a classic Brooklyn tree-lined street, extremely quiet and picturesque, and it has made local news because of the extent to which inhabitants dress up the fronts of their homes with plants and flowers in the Spring. There are several landmark homes further up the street. There are free laundry facilities in the basement.
Interior: The apartment is freshly painted and sunny, with windows facing both north and south and an agreeable, homey yet sophisticated atmosphere. All the rooms are spacious. There is a small wood-burning fireplace in the living room. The living room contains a large dinner table and a convertible queen-size sofa which can sleep two people. The kitchen and bathroom both have ample counter and storage space. The first bedroom has lots of closet space, a queen size bed, a built-in desk. The second bedroom, which is accessed through the first, is presently used as a child's room.
There is a cat in the apartment.
Neighborhood: Landmark downtown Brooklyn locations are within walking distance: the Brooklyn Academy of Music opera house and cinema; the Brooklyn Promenade; Fort Greene Park, Gage & Tollner and Junior's restaurants. The antique shops and Middle Eastern groceries and restaurants of Atlantic Avenue are a step away. The neighborhood is also one of the most racially and culturally diverse in the city.
All the subway lines are within walking distance as well, and average travel time to downtown Manhattan is 20 - 30 minutes. Midtown and uptown Manhattan can be reached by express subway lines in 45 minutes. It is also easy to hail yellow taxis making their way back into Manhattan on nearby Flatbush avenue.
