Facing the funicular of Montmartre and the Square Louise Michel—the sloped garden below the Sacré Coeur Basilica, this 7-story (equivalent to the European 6-story) walk-up Haussmannian building has a classic and elaborate “pierre de taille” façade, which was restored in 2012. Entrance is secured with a digicode-intercom system, as well as a concierge. Located on the 5th floor (considered 4th floor by Europeans), this one bedroom apartment has a northern and southern exposure with an unobstructed view over Paris, making the living room and kitchen rather bright. The bedroom overlooks the interior courtyard of the building with its paved floors and abundant plants.
The living room is decorated in a modern fashion with a comfortable double sofa bed, built-in bookcase, shelves, flat-screen TV and stereo. The adjacent open kitchen has a breakfast bar with three stools, where you can sit down for meals as you enjoy the views over the beautiful Parisian rooftops! The kitchen is equipped with all the major appliances and cooking utensils, as well as dinnerware and a practical washing machine. The kitchen floors are lined with typical ocher tiles, called “tomettes” in French, while the living area and the bedroom feature hardwood flooring. The bedroom contains a queen-size bed in a nice alcove that’s next to a fireplace, as well as sizable storage space in closets and drawers.
On Rue Tardieu, between Rue des Trois Frères and Rue Steinkerque, in the 18th arrondissement, this one bedroom apartment is in an animated area with many bars, restaurants, theatres, cabarets, and trendy boutiques; the neighborhood maintains a bohemian flair. A famous perfumery is headquartered at the foot of the apartment building, in between two ice-cream shops. There is also a bakery and small food shops nearby. The large Monoprix supermarket is conveniently just 145 feet (44 meters) away. Cross the street and hop on the funicular to the top of the hill. Enjoy strolling the small streets throughout the Montmartre area, as you take in the extraordinary views of Paris from the Sacré Coeur Basilica esplanade! You’ll be just 0.2 miles (320 m) east of the Place du Tertre, where many artists gather, and from the Place des Abbesses with its famous “Art Nouveau” metro station and hip cafés. The Abbesses and Anvers stations are respectively on the 12 and 2 lines, and offer a practical commute to other neighborhoods, making it easy to explore the amazing City of Lights!

The apartment is so close to the Place des Abbesses, the adorable and less touristy area of Montmartre. There are so many wonderful shops nearby, it's convenient transportation-wise, the building is nearly silent, and the owners are absolutely wonderful. |
