Neighborhood: The avenue de l'Opéra was so named because of its proximity to the Opéra Garnier. This masterpiece of theatre architecture from the 19th century was built by Charles Garnier and was inaugurated in 1875. It is the 13th opera house to be founded in Paris since the creation of this institution by King Louis XIV in 1669. Napoleon III initiated its construction. Also nearby is the very elegant place Vendôme and the Louvre. The Champs Elysées, Saint Germain des Près are but a short distance away. There is a large assortment of shops and other services in the neighborhood. Premises: This two-bedroom apartment is located on the fifth floor (sixth floor in the USA) of a Hausmanien building. A coded security system protects the main entrance gate, which leads to a large corridor with an elevator. It is furnished with a double-size bed, a bedside table, an air conditioning unit, a closet, a console with a TV, a DVD player and an Internet connection. There are also two chests of drawers, a bookshelf, a desk and an armchair. The separate kitchen has a window that overlooks the courtyard. It is equipped with four gas burners, a refrigerator, a freezer, a combo washer/dryer, a dishwasher, an oven, a microwave, a kettle, a coffee maker and a toaster. The bathroom is equipped with a tub and showerhead, a washbasin and some closets. The separate toilet has a window. Heat ant hot water use gas and are individually metered.
