Neighborhood: Historic Bastille Place and Republic Place are the same short distance from this little street, offering a number of diverse shops, restaurants, and cafes, as well as entertainment options such as the new Opera house. It is also close to the royal Place des Vosges, considered the oldest and most beautiful square in Paris; it was the place of residence of many historic personalities. Built by Henri IV, its perfect symmetry and verticality are fine examples of classical French architecture. This area is also known for its museums, art galleries and antique shops. The trendy and young Oberkampf area with its cafes, restaurants and cinemas is also in the neighborhood. Be aware that there is a pizzeria below this apartment. Premises: This 58m² (approx. 620 sq. ft.) one-bedroom apartment is located on the first floor (second in the USA) of a 17th century walk-up building. The main entrance gate is protected by a coded security system and it opens into a paved corridor leading to a nice courtyard. This courtyard gives access to an old-fashioned staircase. The apartment has wall-to-wall carpeting and a high ceiling with exposed ceiling beams. The 25m² (approx. 265 sq. ft.) living room has two windows overlooking the street with a southeastern exposure. It is furnished with a double-size sofa bed, two armchairs, a coffee table, a chest of drawers, a closet and some bookshelves. It is equipped with a stereo. The 9m² (approx. 95 sq. ft.) bedroom has a double-glazed window facing the courtyard. It is furnished with a double-size bed, bedside tables, a closet and a chest of drawers with a cable TV and a multizone DVD player. The convenient kitchen is equipped with four vitro-ceramic burners topped by a cooker hood, a refrigerator/freezer, a microwave, a dishwasher and a washing machine. The bathroom has a bathtub with a showerhead and a washbasin. Above the tub is a towel-drying rack. The toilette is separate and there is a built-in closet and shelves in the entrance corridor. There is a high speed Internet access. The nearest metro station is Filles du Calvaire (line 8). Heat and hot water are both electric and are individually metered.
