Neighborhood:
This furnished one bedroom duplex apartment is located on Rue Georges Pitard between Rue de la procession and Rue de Vouille. The apartment is in a mostly residential neighborhood, allowing the tenant to experience real Parisian life with charming squares and all sorts of boutiques, restaurants, pleasant cafes, open-air markets, supermarkets, and convenience shops.
It is close to the open market on rue Alésia with its specialty stores, such as bakeries, delicatessens and cheese shops. In close proximity, there is also the famous "Marché au puces de Vanves" with shops selling old books, furniture and antiques. This market is the smallest in Paris but ideal for finding something interesting to take back home. Within walking distance of this market is the Parc Georges Brassens, a pretty place with a large second-hand book market on weekends.
Farther, to the east, is the huge Porte de Versailles Trade Show Center and, to the north, the lively and trendy Montparnasse district, also famous for the city's highest skyscraper showing a singular view over Paris and for its large number of theaters and cinemas.
Premises:
This ancient atelier has been transformed into a spacious loft. In the beginning of the 20th century, it was built by Eiffel to accommodate the workers during the Universal Exposition of Paris. Now, it is surrounded by contemporary artists' ateliers.
The entrance gate protected by a coded security system into a courtyard. Then a private staircase leads to the apartment.
The entrance door opens into the living room and its open kitchen. A staircase leads to the mezzanine, with a bedroom, a bathroom and an office area. The separate toilet is on the lower floor.
The living room has kept its authentic bay window overlooking the courtyard with a western exposure; this gives a lot of light during the day and preserves the original style of the apartment. It is furnished with a queen-size sofa bed, a dining table, a coffee table and bookshelves. It is equipped with TV and an ipod-deck.
The open kitchen is equipped with four electric plates, an oven, a microwave, a dishwasher, a combo refrigerator/freezer, a toaster and a coffee maker.
From the living room, a staircase leads to the open mezzanine. The bedroom area is furnished with a double-size bed. The office area has a double-size sofa bed, a desk, and some built-in closets.
The mezzanine area overlooks the living room.
There is extra closet space under the staircase.
Heat and hot water use gas and are individually metered.
The nearest metro stations are Plaisance (line 13) and Montparnasse (lines 4,6,12,13). Bus lines are also close to the apartment, such as line 95 leading all the way to Montmartre on the other side of Paris via Le Louvre

This is a very charming loft apartment with easy access by Metro to all points in Paris. It was perfect for our extended summer stay while my daughters attended a program at the American University. The apartment is spacious, tastefully decorated in a modern style, and has fantastic lighting. |
