You will love walking around the charming and quiet residential streets of Le Marais, one of Paris’s oldest neighborhoods that has kept the narrow streets and architectural styles of Medieval Paris. Located in the heart of the city, this one bedroom apartment in Paris’ 3rd arrondissement offers a perfect base to go explore the city while you are on vacation, and access to a convenient transportation system to go anywhere you need to go! You will find this apartment on the 2nd floor (considered 3rd by Americans) of a 5-story building from the 17th century that you enter through a beautiful courtyard.
More than just an ideal location, this apartment has great interiors! The oversize windows in the living room combined with the white walls make the place bright and airy; while the floor-to-ceiling bookcases exaggerate the high ceiling to give it a loft-like feeling. In those bookcases, no less than 4000 books in several languages are available! The windows overlook a quiet and charming street. The kitchen has all the necessities to cook at home, and you can enjoy your meals on the dining table in the living room. The bedroom is furnished with a double bed and a child bed, and has a TV with DVD player. This apartment also has the convenience of a washing machine, and of having the toilet separated from the bathroom.
Please note that the apartment features two child beds. The first one (1.20m x 0.80m or 47" x 31" ) fits a child up to 6 years old. The second child bed (1.60m x 0.80m or 63"x 31") can accommodate one child up to 10 years old.
Located at Rue Villehardouin & Rue de Turenne you will be surrounded by ancient cobblestone streets and some of the oldest buildings in Paris, mixed with fun boutiques, great cafes and galleries, making Le Marais a fascinating neighborhood mixing the old and the modern. There are so many things to do and see in this area and here are some of them:
- Place des Vosges (400 m / .2 miles): Often called Paris’ most beautiful square, it dates back to the 17th century, and was home to many famous Frenchmen such as Richelieu or Victor Hugo. It is now a beautiful tourist destination with a central park surrounded by arcades with shops and cafés.
- Rue des Francs-Bourgeois: Walk down Rue de Turenne for 250 meters (.1 mile) and turn right on Rue des Francs-Bourgeois, one of the Marais’ most popular shopping areas. Take time to discover some of the unique fashion boutiques and admire the impressive Renaissance-era buildings.
- Picasso Museum: Same distance to the other direction is this museum consecrated to the work and life of Cubist artist Pablo Picasso.
- The Saint-Paul Village: A series of quiet, interconnected courtyards form this peaceful village on Rue Saint Paul, 650 meters (.4 miles) south of the apartment. Here you will find art galleries, antiques and artisan boutiques as well as many food shops.
- Rue de Bretagne and Marché des Enfants Rouges (600 m /.4 miles): This is one of the oldest covered food markets in Paris and offers all sorts of fresh produce and flowers.
To explore Paris even more, take the M8 at the Chemin Vert metro station or M1 at Saint-Paul. They both run east-west through the city center, and connect to many other lines making very easy to get around Paris.
