Some well-known attractions nearby are Père Lachaise cemetery to the east and Place de la Bastille to the west. At Père Lacahise cemetery wander the garden-like cemetery filled with ornate mausoleums to spot the burial sites of some notable people including Edith Piaf, Jim Morrison, Oscar Wilde, and many more! Head west down Rue Charonne or Rue de la Roquette to Place de la Bastille to visit the July Column or attend a performance at Opèra Bastille, one of three opera houses in Paris.
To access the rest of Paris there are two metro stations nearby. For service on the 9 line head to the Charonne Station (.2 mi) and at the Faidherbe-Chaligny Station there is access on the 8 line. Transfers at République (4 stops) give access to the 3, 5, and 11 lines.
We enjoyed the apartment very much, and the landlord was very accommodating and responsive. The one problem was the noise from the upstairs neighbors; but old buildings have thin walls and floors.

At the time, there was an unruly toddler who was starting to walk and would jump up and down above room #2. But they moved, and it's been pretty quiet ever since.
