Neighborhood: This apartment is on a little street situated in the Montmartre knoll, between rue Lamarck and rue Francoeur. Montmartre is a 130-meter high knoll and the center of Parisian art's greatest pictorial movements of the 19th and 20th centuries. Renowned artists, from Berlioz to Picasso, lived and worked in this district known for the unconventional lifestyle kept alive by a number of its residents. From the Sacred Heart Basilica esplanade, there is a panoramic view of Paris and the charming Place du Tertre is a must-see. There are all sorts of shops and services in the neighborhood, especially the fruit and vegetable market situated on Rue Lepic. Premises: This 26m² (approx. 275 sq. ft.) studio is located on the ground floor of an early 20th century building. The main entrance gate is protected by a coded security system. This gate opens into a long corridor leading to a courtyard and the building door. The main entrance opens directly into the living room. It has yellow ochre sponge-painted walls, a half parquet and half tiled floor, and 2.85m high ceilings. The 18m² (approx. 190 sq. ft.) living room has a French window with southern exposure overlooking the courtyard. It is furnished with a double-size sofa bed, a TV, a DVD player and stereo situated on shelves between the two closets, a round dining table and four chairs, a dresser in front of the open kitchen, and an area rug. A wooden ladder goes up to the wall-to-wall carpeted 6m² (approx. 60 sq. ft.) mezzanine. Here the ceiling is 1.23m high, and there is a double-size mattress on a raised platform, a chest of drawers, a lamp, and a window with no screen. The open kitchen is equipped with four electric burners, a microwave oven, a small refrigerator, an electric kettle and coffee maker, a toaster, a round stainless steel sink, and a washing machine. It leads to the bathroom. The bathroom has a window, a small bathtub, a washbasin and toilette. Heat and hot water are both electric and individually metered. The nearest metro station is Lamarck Caulaincourt (line 12).
