The apartment is in a mostly pedestrian street in the very select Saint Germain des Près quarter; more precisely the Saint Germain des prés and Saint Michel neighborhood, at walking distance from Notre Dame and Ile Saint Louis. One of the most attractive and historic districts of the Seine River's left bank, it is here where we find historic cafes such as Les Deux Magots and Café de Flore, favorite haunts of some of the early French existentialists and expatriate American writers. Nearby is the rue de Buci that features an open-air market.
Premises:
This 175m² five-bedroom apartment is located on the second floor of an 18th century walk up building. Two coded security systems and a concierge protect the main entrance gate. This gate opens onto a corridor, which leads to an interior paved courtyard.
This outstanding appartment that has just been fully renovated and decorated, offers a fantastic volume in the living room with its 13' high ceilings and its black iron mezzanine. The apartment has wooden floors throughout, except in the fifth bedroom, the kitchen and bathrooms. All the windows are double-glazed. Air conditioning and Internet access (RJ45 plugs) are available in every room.
Layout:
The entrance door opens into the living room and an open-kitchen. From the living room there is a hallway, which leads, on the left, to the master bedroom with its private bathroom. Further on down the hallway are 3 of the other bedrooms, the second bathroom and a separate toilet.
The wooden staircase in the living room leads to the TV area and to the fifth bedroom with its private bathroom.
The 64m² living room is decorated in an eclectic style with a decorative 18th century fireplace and paintings on the walls. The three windows face the courtyard to the South and have interior 18th century wooden shutters. It is furnished with two large comfortable natural linen sofas, 2 armchairs, a coffee table, an 18th century provencal chest of drawers with upon it an antique 3 foot long replica of a fregate ship, a wooden oval extensible dining table with its matching chairs, and some built-in shelves with upon it decorative items. It has a high fidelity stereo system and an independant air conditioner.
The staircase goes up to the TV area and to the library. The 10m² TV space is furnished with a cable plasma TV (about 40 inches - 107 cm) with its DVD player, a sofa and an leather armchair.
The open kitchen is decorated in a contemporary style, with oakwood cup boards and granit surface. It is well equipped with a stainless steal iron gas burner stove with a convection oven, a large refrigerator with ice maker, a freezer, a dishwasher, a microwave, a toaster. There is also a small table with a bench and two chairs.
All five bedrooms are air-conditioned and have curtains.
The 21m² master bedroom is decorated in an antique style. The two windows open onto the street and have exterior shutters. It is furnished with a double size bed with two bedside tables, a piano, an antique style desk with a computer connected to a high-speed Internet access, an armchair and a built-in closet. There is also a walk in closet.
This bedroom has a private bathroom. It is tiled in marble and is equipped with a washbasin, a shower, a bidet and a toilet. This room has a washer and dryer.
The 12m² second bedroom has one window, which overlooks the street and has exterior shutters. It is furnished with a single bed, a desk with built-in shelves above it and a bench.
The 8,5m² third bedroom with its 7.5m² mazzanine, has one window that overlooks the street and has exterior shutters. The room is furnished with a desk, an armchair and a built-in closet. The mezzanine/loft is accessible by a wooden staircase. It is furnished with a trundle bed (single bed plus a second one sliding underneath; lit d'appoint) and has a built-in shelf.
The 11m² fourth bedroom is arranged similarly to the third. It is furnished with a desk, an armchair and a built-in closet. The 7,5m² mezzanine/loft has also a single bed plus a matress sliding under the bed and a built-in shelf.
The bathroom (#2)(for bedrooms 2, 3 and 4) is equipped with two washbasins and a bathtub with a shower.
There is also a separate toilet with a washbasin.
The 12m² fifth bedroom (accessible by a staircase in the living room) has a window, which opens onto a closed courtyard. It is furnished with a double size bed, an antique style desk, a white cabinet and some built-in shelves. This room has a low ceiling (1,90m) and its own bathroom. The bathroom is tiled in pastel marble. It is equipped with a bathtub with a shower, a washbasin and a toilet.
The closest metro station is St Michel (RER and line 4)or Odéon (line 10). Many bus lines around. Seine River bank only 100 yards away.
Pets could be permitted with prior approval, but smokers are not.
A parking place can be made available nearby.
