Studio apartment between Bastille Place and Marais area
|
Neighborhood:
Located on the Rue Saint-Antoine, this furnished apartment is next to the royal Place des Vosges, hailed for the harmony of its architecture and famous for being the former residence of French novelist Victor Hugo from 1832 to 1848 (number 6). It is part of the special atmosphere infusing the historical Marais area with its substantial number of points of interest, such as museums, art galleries, design shops, and diverse, trendy bars and restaurants.
In walking distance from this accommodation are the Seine with its two delectable islands -- Ile de la Cite and Ile Saint Louis -- and the Hotel de Ville (city hall). Just steps away are the Rue de la Roquette, a street mostly frequented by young people. The heart of this area is the historic Place de la Bastille, symbol of the French Republic. Built during the 14th century as a fortified royal residence, it is the most famous monument in Paris. The new Opéra House, considered one of the best operas in the world, is nearby. The neighborhood features a number of traditional restaurants, cafes and open-air markets, such as the market on Place d'Aligre and one on Rue Richard Lenoir. Numerous cinemas are in and around the area.
Premises:
This 32m˛ (approx. 340 sq. ft.) studio apartment is located on the second floor of an 18th century building. A coded system and a concierge protect the main entrance gate that opens into an elegant hall. From there, a second door with a coded system opens into a staircase and an elevator. On the first floor, a door opens into an exterior leading to a third door that has a coded system. This opens to a staircase that leads to the second floor and the apartment entrance.
The 20m˛ (approx. 215 sq. ft.) main room has two windows that overlook a courtyard. It is furnished with armchairs, a coffee table, a dining table with chairs, a built-in closet with sliding doors, a small desk, a console with a cable TV, a VCR and a DVD player. At the end of this room is the sleeping area located on a stage; it is furnished with a queen-size bed and lamps. There are drawers under the stage. This room is connected to a high-speed DSL Internet connection.
On the opposite side of the sleeping area is a small open kitchen accessible through an opening. It is equipped with two electric plates, a combo grill/microwave, a refrigerator, a freezer, a coffee maker, a toaster, a kettle, a dishwasher and a combo washer/dryer. A small balcony with flowers is accessible by stepping over the kitchen window frame.
The tiled bathroom contains a bathtub with a showerhead, a washbasin and a toilette. There is also a window.
