Two-bedroom apartment in Mouffetard area

Neighborhood: This apartment is on a busy street in the heart of the Marais, a historic district offering diverse shops, a nice choice of international and basic restaurants, and pleasant cafes. In a few steps is the charming royal Place des Vosges, known for its art galleries and for the former residence of the famous French novelist Victor Hugo, where he lived from 1832 to 1848. A little bit farther is Place de la Bastille, symbol of the French Republic and one of the city's most important points of interest. All sorts of conveniences are in the neighborhood. Premises: This 102m² (approx. 1,095 sq. ft.) two-bedroom apartment is located on the second floor of a 1580s walk-up building. The main entrance gate is protected by a coded security system and opens into a corridor leading to a paved courtyard with a glass door and an intercom. From there, an authentic 16th century staircase leads to the apartment. Comfortable and nicely located, the apartment has a hall corridor, a living room with an open kitchen, a master bedroom, an office also used as a guest bedroom, a bathroom, and a separate toilet. The 54m² (approx. 580 sq. ft.) living room has a nice parquet floor and high ceilings with exposed beams. It is decorated with antiques and furnished with a double sofa bed, a sofa, a country-style rectangular coffee table, a straw-bottomed armchair, and chairs; it also has a decorative fireplace with an antique gilded frame mirror, and an antique rustic dresser. In addition. there is an antique drop leaf square dining table with four straw-bottomed chairs. This room has two triple-glazed windows decorated with ecru curtains and overlooking the street with a northwestern exposure. A bar separates the pleasant kitchen, which has ceiling beams, a nice wooden worktop, and a white ceramic square sink. It is equipped with a combo gas stove (four burners and an oven), a dishwasher, a refrigerator-freezer, a washing machine, cupboards containing the necessary utensils, and a window opening to a very narrow courtyard. The 13m² (approx. 135 sq. ft.) first bedroom is at the end of the living room. It has a triple-glazed window which overlooks the street and is decorated with motif white curtains. There are ceiling beams and a parquet floor. It is furnished with a double-size bed, an antique-style cabinet, a desk and an armchair. (NOTE: The computer in the pictures is not available for the tenants.) Bright and quiet, the 15m² second bedroom is accessible from the living room via a double door. It has yellow ocher colored walls and is furnished with a queen-size bed, a built-in closet with sliding doors, and recessed bookshelves. Between the two windows, draped with motif white curtains opening to the quiet courtyard, is an antique-style mirror. It is also equipped with a large flat screen cable TV, a DVD player, a home theater system and a stereo. In the little corridor to the right of the second bedroom are the beige tiled bathroom, accessible through a sliding door, and the separate restroom. The bathroom has a bathtub with a wall-mounted shower with a plastic curtain installed at a lower level. There is also a white ceramic washbasin with a large mirror and a cane chest below, a wooden linen closet, and a bidet. There is gas heat and hot water. The nearest metro station is Saint Paul (line 1).
