Studio in the Latin Quarter
|
Neighborhood:
One of the most youthful areas in Paris, this calm, quaint street in the Latin Quarter is situated between the Pantheon and Rue des Ecoles. The Pantheon was converted into a secular temple by decree during the Revolution and houses the remains of some of the great historical figures of France (i.e., Victor Hugo, Alexandre Dumas, Emile Zola, Marie and Pierre Curie). Also in the area is Le College de France and in fair walking distance is the Sorbonne University. Running parallel to the Seine River is the renowned Boulevard Saint Germain with its secondhand bookstores, coffee houses and galleries. The area features a number of restaurants and cafes, diverse shops, and other quality conveniences such as Maubert Mutualité and Mouffetard open-air markets, supermarkets, and fine bakeries.
Premises:
South exposed and facing the street, this 26m² (approx. 275 sq. ft.) studio is located on the first French floor (second in the USA) of a well-maintained walk-up building from the 17th century. It is equipped with a coded security system.
Layout:
The entrance door opens directly into the kitchen. To the left, a door gives access to the bathroom. On the right, at the end of the kitchen, another door opens into the living room.
In the 17m² (approx. 180 sq. ft.) living room a double-glaze window draped with off-white curtains overlooks the street. It is furnished with a double-size sofa bed facing a rectangular coffee table, a wooden rectangular dining table with two chairs, a safe, a bookcase, a desk, a cable TV with VCR and a stereo.
The white tiled kitchen space is equipped with two electric burners, a small refrigerator, a microwave, a toaster and a coffee maker.
The bathroom is also tiled and contains a built-in shower stall protected by sliding screens, a white ceramic washbasin, and a toilet.
A high speed internet connection is available.
The closest metro stops are Cardinal Lemoine and Maubert Mutualite (line 10), and the RER B & C -St Michel. There is also efficient bus service.
Heat and hot water are both electric and individually metered.
