Overall, our experience renting the apartment in Paris was fantastic. We enjoyed the location and found our apartment to be very comfortable. Here are a couple of little suggestions that might make it even better:

a) the printer had been packed away, so printing out tickets or receipts involved copying files onto a usb stick and taking it to one of the local printing services (not all of whom were very computer savvy, interestingly!)
b) many of the items in the apartment were fragile and of great personal value to the landlady (which she pointed out to us when we arrived at 11pm our first night in Paris). We were terrified of breaking things (including essentials like reading lamps, which you can't really do without when there is no overhead lighting - the case here), much of the crockery and cutlery and pots were already damaged when we arrived, and as there was no report done at the start, we were concerned about our bond. I think it might be better to fit the place out with simple, cheap, but functional lamps and cutlery, plates and glasses etc. and store away the valuable and fragile items. The storage room was empty.
c) the information about how to contact the cleaning lady, what to do with recyclables and normal rubbish, where the nearest/best laundromat/post office/supermarket was, where and when the markets were, and which phones we should use for what, was all on separate bits of paper and usually handwritten. It would be more easy to manage with all that sort of essential info on one sheet in a large font! We found Mme Delanoe's general notes very useful.
d) there was nowhere to dry clothes and no drying rack. This is truly essential for long term tenants! After some very pointed comments from one of the neighbours about our drying our clothes on the line outside the bathroom window, we ended up buying a rack which we left with our landlady.

All these things were more important to us probably than to others, shorter term tenants, as we were there with our child, and really having to do normal everyday things like cook, wash clothes, look at emails and clean up after ourselves etc.
That said, we enjoyed our stay and look forward to the next time!
