Standing among olive trees, this stone country house offers exceptional panoramic views of the surrounding hills and of the picturesque village of Eygalières (located 8 kilometers from Saint-Rémy de Provence). The house dating from the 17-18 centuries has two wings connected by a large terrace, a lovely patio, and a garden with swimming pool. It sleeps 10-12 people. The whole house has terra cotta tiled floors and colorful painted walls.
This accommodation is either available for weekly rentals during the summer or as a Bed & Breakfast. You are walking distance from the village, where are all the cafés, and restaurants.
Garden Level :
The lounge has beautiful vaulted ceilings and two exposures : a large French door looks onto the olive trees and the swimming pool and another French door open onto an enclosed courtyard. It is furnished with armchairs, a lounge table and a bench (that can be used as an extra single bed if needed). Three steps leads to another vaulted room ideal to listen to music, watch TV or just relax. From this large living room stairs leads to the bedrooms.
You access the dining room either through a hallway or by going outside, across the patio. In the dining area are an ancient stone fireplace and a large French door opening onto the patio.
The newly remodeled kitchen has all new cabinets, countertops and appliances including a gas cooker, a refregerator / freezer, an oven, a microwave, a toaster, a coffee maker, and a dishwasher. There is a washing machine as well as a dryer in the laundry room located in the hallway (leading from the lounge to the dining room). From the kitchen, a door leads to a hallway where is a bathroom (sink, stall, stall shower and separated water closet) and stairs leading to the bedrooms.
Upstairs :
The master bedroom is above the lounge. It has a double size bed, two windows and a private en-suite bathroom (double sink, bathtub and stall shower).
Off the hallway is a duplex bedroom with a double size bed downstairs, and two twin beds upstairs. Under the wooden staircase are a sink and a stall shower. From the duplex bedroom, a door leads to the terrace connecting the two wings of the house.
On the other wing, above the dining room and the kitchen, are three bedrooms. All have twin beds (that can be set as a double size beds), closets and windows with amazing views over the surrounding countryside. Upstairs is a third bathroom (stall shower and sink).
The swimming pool is down the house, in the olive trees. A fence might be installed around the pool if needed. There is a wonderful view of Eygalières and of the ruins of an old mill nearby. A small path leads to the village among what we call here"la garrigue". During the night, the village looks like a Provencal crib.
By car from the property, you can reach Saint-Rémy de Provence in 10 minutes. Saint-Rémy is famous for its famous ruins of Glanum (an old archeological site from the first century BC) and for the hospital where Vincent Van Gogh stayed (Cloître Saint-Paul). You may even recognize one of the landscapes he drew while he was there. Arles and "La Camargue" are only 40 minutes away by car and Avignon and its famous theater festival (in July) is 40 minutes away as well. Sports lovers can cross the Alpilles riding bravely their bicycles (but you got to have very good health condition because this ride is extremely difficult !). There are stables near the property where you can hire horses and discover the Alpilles horseback riding. Within their surroundings, the Alpilles chain of mountains forms both a striking and a harmonious picture.
