Maison de Village with Pool in an old and picturesque village of the Northern Vaucluse
|
This ancient stone-house is located in heart the picturesque village of Séguret, which is known as one of the most beautiful and authentic fortified villages of the Northern Vaucluse. This 3 bedroom / 1 bathroom house of approximately 200 square meters can accommodate 4 to 6 people. The house actually has two gardens: a front enclosed garden and at the rear, a large garden reclaimed on the hill. The swimming pool is above the house itself on a terraced garden. It has an amazing view over the valley, the church, and the famous Dentelles de Montmirail.
From the front garden, the entrance door gives access to a large sitting room that has a fireplace, two windows, two sofas, a lounge table, as well as a dining table and a desk. There is a TV, and a stereo.
Two steps lead to the kitchen and dining area. There is a large dining table, a window and another fireplace. The kitchen is fully equipped with an oven, 4 burners, a refrigerator/freezer, a coffee maker, and a dishwasher. A former stone well is still in this part of the house.
Near the entrance door, stairs leads to the bedrooms.
The first bedroom has two windows that look onto the village and the countryside. This bedroom has sloping-ceilings and exposed beams. It is an attic bedroom furnished with a double size bed, a desk, a round table with two rattan chairs, a chest and a full length-mirror.
The second bedroom doesn't have a lot of privacy. You have to walk through this room to access either the third bedroom or the bathroom, or to the back garden where is the swimming pool. But a double size bed can accommodate an extra person or a couple.
The third bedroom has a window and is furnished with a double size bed, and a dresser. There is a TV.
The bathroom has a window, a bathtub / shower, a sink with mirror, and a dresser. Water closet is separate.
Outside, is a terrace that would be perfect for dinner alfresco during summertime. From this terrace, an exterior staircase leads to the swimming pool. There is no protective fence to prevent children from falling into the water so adults will have to look after them carefully.
Underneath the house is also a private garage, with an independent access from the street.
This village of Séguret is located in the Vaucluse department, about 7 km from Vaison-la-Romaine and 20 kilometers from Orange. The most impressive aspect of the area is the famous Dentelles de Montmirail which is a paradise for amateur mountaineers and hikers. The massif culminates at 734 m, overlooking wooded areas and wine producing villages. As a matter of fact, this conservation area is also a renowned wine production center where you can encounter a number of picturesque villages with celebrated names like Beaumes-de-Venise, or Gigondas. You will be able to do wine tasting session or visit authentic cellars. Monuments worth seeing: ruins of the Saracen tower, built in the 12th Century and the Turk's rock, a natural outcrop fortified by man. Not far away either, the Ventoux Mountain culminates at an altitude of 1,912 meters and is usually covered by a thick coat of snow in winter. The UNESCO has classified it as Biosphere reserve. Its majestic windswept peak sails through the clouds, like a gigantic ship of stone. The area is particularly famous for its exceptional variety of rambling circuits, which will lead nature lovers along wonderful paths.
The closest highway is the A9, exit Orange-Sud, 15 minutes drive away. This highway goes from the Spanish border to Orange with connections for all major cities of the south east of France.
The closest train station is at Orange or at Avignon, which is served by the TGV (Train Grande Vitesse) that goes to Paris in 2 hours and 40 minutes!
The closest airport is Avignon or Nîmes-Garons with daily flights to Paris. But most international connections are made through the international airports of Marseille-Marignane or Paris-Charles de Gaulle.
