2 bedroom Mas with swimming pool, near the famous Roman site of Glanum, and facing the Alpilles
|
The 2 bedroom / 2 bathroom stone-built little Mas is located on the edge of the village of Saint-Rémy de Provence, about 1,200 meters from the market place, and the tourist office. You can walk to the village and have a coffee at the terrace of the Café des Variétés' in 10-15 minutes! The house is also located 5 minutes walk from the Ruins of Glanum and Les Antiques, as well as Saint-Paul Cloister, the famous hospital where Van Gogh stayed while he lived in Saint-Rémy. You can even see the Mausoleum of Les Antiques from the terrace of the house. The property has a garden and swimming pool with a view over the Alpilles.
This accommodation is available for weekly rentals throughout the year, or monthly rentals during off-peak season. The house is approximately 80 sqm and can accommodate 4 to 6 people. If you have a car there are parking spaces down the house as well as a garage.
The front door leads to a large sitting room with open plan kitchen and dining area. The lounge is furnished with a double size sofa bed, and a lounge table. There is a TV. This sitting room has access to the front terrace though a French window, and look onto the swimming pool and the Alpilles. The room has double exposure: south and west.
The kitchen is fully equipped: gas and electric burners, oven, microwave, refrigerator / freezer, coffee maker, toaster, and a dishwasher. Off the kitchen is the laundry room with washing machine and dryer.
From the living room a hallway leads to the bedrooms. The master bedroom is at the end of the hallway. It has a two double size beds. There is an en-suite shower room. The second bedroom has twin beds.
The two bedrooms have south exposure and look onto the garden, the swimming pool and the Alpilles.
A second bathroom is just by the second bedroom: it has a washbasin, a bathtub, and a stall shower. Toilet is separated, in the hallway.
A DSL Internet Access is available.
Situated within easy walking distance of the famous village of Saint-Rémy de Provence and the Roman town of Glanum, you are also 30 minutes drive from Avignon and 30 minutes drive from Arles. Glanum, nearby, is an archeological site from the first century BC. Avignon & Arles also offers many cultural activities and historic monuments. For paintings lovers, the hospital where Vincent Van Gogh stayed (Cloître Saint-Paul) is also a good excursion for the day. You may even recognize one of the landscapes he drew while he was there.
For sports lovers, you can rent bicycles in Saint-Rémy at "Ferri Location" (route de Cavaillon) or discover the Alpilles horseback riding. An equestrian center in Saint-Rémy organizes tours during summertime. The local market of Saint-Rémy is on Wednesdays and Saturdays. There are plenty of bars and restaurants on the main street going all around the village or in the central narrow streets.
The closest highway is the A7, exit Cavaillon, 25 minutes drive away, that goes from Lyon to Marseille with connections for all major cities of the south east of France.
The closest train station is at Avignon and is served by the TGV (Train Grande Vitesse) that goes to Paris in 2 hours and 40 minutes !
The closest airport is Avignon as well with daily flights to Paris. But most international connections are made through the international airports of Marseille-Marignane or Paris-Charles de Gaulle.
