Well I\u2019m back with another installment of our video mini-series dedicated to showing you how to have fun in New York<\/a>\u2026 for free.\u00a0 That\u2019s right, one of the most expensive cities in the world offers a seemingly endless supply of fun and free activities.<\/p>\n

If it\u2019s the arts and music you are after, there are plenty of opportunities for the frugal traveler to get into major New York museums and concerts for free.<\/p>\n

Museum of Modern Art<\/strong><\/a>:\u00a0 (MoMA)
\nMany of New York\u2019s museums have certain days where they have free entry.\u00a0 The MoMA is a great example.\u00a0 It is normally $20 for adult admission, on Friday afternoons from 4 to 8pm, the MoMA is free for everyone. It is located at the limit between Midtown West<\/a> and Midtown East<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Metropolitan Museum of Art<\/strong>: (The MET)
\nWith its 5 million visitors per year, the Metropolitan Museum of Art is one of New York City\u2019s most popular attractions. \u00a0It is located in the Upper East Side<\/a> and entrance is based on a donation, so you get to decide your price of entry.<\/p>\n

\nIf you are looking to get out of Manhattan, the Brooklyn<\/a> Museum is a great place to check out.\u00a0 Entry is free every first Saturday from 5 p.m. to 11p.m.\u00a0 Of course, arriving after 5 may not give you enough time to visit all of the museum’s permanent collection containing more than one-and-a-half million objects.<\/p>\n

Studio Museum in Harlem:<\/strong>
\nOpened in 1968, the Studio Museum in Harlem<\/a> has earned recognition for its role in promoting the works of artists of African descent.\u00a0 This museum is free the first Saturday of every month.<\/p>\n

In fact, most museums in New York have a day each week or each month where entry is free.\u00a0 So if you\u2019ve got a museum you absolutely must see, but don\u2019t have it in your budget, contact the museum \u2013 they just might have a free day during your visit.<\/p>\n

\nLocated in the heart of Times Square, you\u2019ll find free shows almost every night at the BB King Blues Club and Grill.\u00a0 Shows generally start at 8pm.<\/p>\n

Brooklyn Academy of Music<\/strong>: (BAM)
\nAnother great place to catch great free live music is the Brooklyn Academy of Music.\u00a0 Head over to their BAMcaf\u00e9 where you\u2019ll find great music.\u00a0 Every Friday and Saturday is free to the public.<\/p>\n

Summerstage:<\/strong>
\nIf you\u2019re coming to New York in the summer, you\u2019ve got to check out Central Park\u2019s Summerstage.\u00a0 SummerStage is New York’s premiere outdoor concert venue in Central Park.\u00a0 All summer long you\u2019ll find amazing concerts \u2013 and they\u2019re all completely free.<\/p>\n
