there are lots of things you can do in this city that are absolutely free.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>You can start saving money even before you arrive by renting a <a title=\"New York Apartment rentals \" href=\"\/new-york-apartment\/furnished\">New York fully furnished apartment<\/a> through our company.\u00a0 With hundreds of apartments that are cheaper than hotels in the city, a <a title=\"New York Vacation rentals\" href=\"\/new-york-apartment\/vacation\">vacation rental in New York<\/a> makes\u00a0 sense for the budget-minded traveler.\u00a0 In a future video we\u2019ll talk more about this.\u00a0 Just keep in mind that, dollar-for-dollar, you\u2019ll get more and pay less.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a title=\"Staten Island Ferry\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nyhabitat.com\/blog\/2007\/01\/09\/the-staten-island-ferry-a-fun-trip-with-no-cost\/\">The Staten Island Ferry<\/a><\/strong>:<br \/>\nOnce you\u2019ve settled into your apartment, it\u2019s time to do some free stuff.\u00a0 One of the most well known free activities in New York City is the Staten Island Ferry.\u00a0 Known as &#8220;One of the world&#8217;s greatest (and shortest) water voyages\u201d, the Staten Island Ferry provides service to around 60,000 passengers a day not including weekends).\u00a0 The Ferry runs between St. George on Staten Island and Whitehall Street in lower Manhattan\u2026 and it\u2019s completely free!<\/p>\n<p>With its majestic views of Lower Manhattan, New York Harbor and the Statue of Liberty, this boat ride is completely free.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Free Ikea water taxi:<\/strong><br \/>\nAnother fun (and free) boat ride is the Ikea water taxi.\u00a0 It runs shoppers back and forth between Ikea in <a title=\"Brooklyn Travel Guide\" href=\"\/blog\/category\/new-york\/new-york-travel-guide\/brooklyn\/\">Brooklyn<\/a> and Pier 11 in the <a title=\"Travel tips about the Financial District, NY\" href=\"\/blog\/category\/new-york\/new-york-travel-guide\/new-york-neighborhoods\/financial-district\/\">Financial District<\/a>.\u00a0 You\u2019ll have some great views along the way.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Battery Park:<\/strong><br \/>\nAnother great place to check out is the southern most tip of Manhattan.\u00a0 There you\u2019ll find <a title=\"Travel tips to Battery Park and TriBeCa, NY\" href=\"\/blog\/category\/new-york\/new-york-travel-guide\/new-york-neighborhoods\/tribeca\/\">Battery Park<\/a> \u2013 a 25 acre green space with great views of the Statue of Liberty.\u00a0 This is also where you can catch the ferry to go see lady liberty up close.\u00a0 But for that, my friends, you\u2019ll have to pay\u2026<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019d like to make lower Manhattan your base of operations during your trip to New York, consider this <a title=\"New York Accommodation:  in Soho (NY-9572)\" href=\"\/new-york-apartment\/bed-breakfast\/9572\">Bed and Breakfast in Soho (NY-9572)<\/a>.\u00a0 It\u2019s located in <a title=\"Apartments for rent in SoHo, NY\" href=\"\/new-york-apartment\/furnished\/manhattan\/soho\">SoHo, \u00a0a neighborhood with lots of nice apartments<\/a> and plenty of galleries, boutiques, restaurants, bars and coffee shops.<\/p>\n<p>If you need more room, this <a title=\"New Yorkapartment: 2-bedroom Loft in Tribeca (NY-12877)\" href=\"\/new-york-apartment\/furnished\/12877\">2-bedroom Accommodation in Tribeca (NY-12877)<\/a> will keep you in the heart of the action.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong><a title=\"Roosevelt Island Tram: Top Views of New York\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nyhabitat.com\/blog\/2008\/05\/30\/top-5-manhattan-views-1-the-roosevelt-island-tram\/\">Tram at Roosevelt Island<\/a>:<\/strong> (59th St and 2nd Ave)<br \/>\nOf course, if you\u2019re starting to get sea sick from the free boat rides, why not take to the sky?
