(4:40)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Central Park is bordered on the north by <a title=\"Travel tips to Harlem, NY\" href=\"\/blog\/category\/new-york\/new-york-travel-guide\/new-york-neighborhoods\/harlem\/\">Harlem<\/a> on West 110th Street, on the south by <a title=\"Travel Guide to Midtown West, NY\" href=\"\/blog\/category\/new-york\/new-york-travel-guide\/new-york-neighborhoods\/midtown-west\/\">Midtown West<\/a> on West 59th Street, on the west by the <a title=\"Travel tips about the Upper West Side, NY\" href=\"\/blog\/category\/new-york\/new-york-travel-guide\/new-york-neighborhoods\/upper-west-side\/\">Upper West Side<\/a> on Eighth Avenue \u2013 which along the Park\u2019s borders are known as Central Park North, Central Park South, and Central Park West respectively. Fifth Avenue retains its name and forms the eastern border of the park, towards the <a title=\"Travel tips about the Upper East Side, NY\" href=\"\/blog\/category\/new-york\/new-york-travel-guide\/new-york-neighborhoods\/upper-east-side\/\">Upper East Side<\/a>.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Central Park contains several lakes and ponds, extensive walking trails, two ice-skating rinks (one of which is a swimming pool in July and August), the Central Park Zoo, the Central Park Conservatory Garden, a wildlife sanctuary, a large area of natural woods, a reservoir with an encircling running track, 37 kids playgrounds, children&#8217;s yoga, the Delacorte Theater and, of course, the famous Central Park Carousel.<\/p>\n<p>I think you get the idea.\u00a0 There\u2019s A LOT to do here.\u00a0 But so that you don\u2019t get overwhelmed, we\u2019re going to make this into a multi-part video series.\u00a0 In this \u201cCentral Park Mini Series\u201d I\u2019m going to take you around to a few of my favorite places:<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\n<strong>Bethesda Terrace<\/strong> &#8211; Mid-Park at 72nd Street<br \/>\nWhen Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux designed the park in the late 1850\u2019s, they knew they needed a special place in the Park where people could gather. They needed to create a center for socializing, for people to see and be seen, Bethesda Terrace is that place.\u00a0 Hang around here long enough and you\u2019ll see it all\u2026 street performers, wedding photographs, musicians, artists and more.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Central Park Zoo and the Children&#8217;s Zoo<\/strong> \u2013 East Side at 64th St.<br \/>\nThe Central Park Zoo had some bleak years back in the 70s and 80s.\u00a0 It had been neglected and its animals were living in small cramped cages.\u00a0 It has since been renovated and today it\u2019s a thriving healthy zoo with a lot to see. Come see the polar bears, the sea lion pool, monkeys and the amazing tropical rain forest.\u00a0 Just next door is the Children\u2019s Zoo.\u00a0 This is a must-see if you have kids.\u00a0 They\u2019ve got goats, pigs, turtles, ducks and even a cow named Othello.\u00a0 The best part &#8211; most of the animals can be touched and fed.<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t forget that a great way to experience the city\u00a0to rent a <a title=\"New York Accommodations\" href=\"\/new-york-apartment\/vacation\">New York\u00a0vacation rental<\/a> from New York Habitat.\u00a0 We\u2019ve got apartments all around Central Park.\u00a0 It\u2019s a great alternative to the usual hotel and it\u2019ll save you money!<\/p>\n<p>This <a title=\"New York furnished: Studio in the Upper West Side (NY-12814)\" href=\"\/new-york-apartment\/furnished\/12814\">studio apartment with terrace on the Upper West Side (NY-12814)<\/a> is a great option if you\u2019re looking for quick access to Central Park.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re looking to live near the Park, you\u2019ll want to consider this amazing <a title=\"New York Apartment: 1-bedroom accommodation in The Upper West Side (NY-14067\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nyhabitat.com\/new-york-apartment\/vacation\/14067\">one bedroom vacation rental in Midtown West (NY-14067)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Loeb Boathouse on the Lake &#8211; East Side between 74th and 75th Streets<br \/>\nThe Loeb Boathouse is located at the northeastern tip of the Lake.\u00a0 It\u2019s one of Central Parks most recognizable spots.\u00a0 You can rent a boat here for a romantic moment on the Lake.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wolman Rink<\/strong> &#8211; East Side between 62nd and 63rd Streets<br \/>\nWollman Rink was built in 1949 when Kate Wollman donated $600,000 for its construction.
