Today\u2019s <strong>video tour<\/strong> will be spent at the park, but not just any park, the refined <strong>Buttes-Chaumont<\/strong>. Les <a title=\"Travel tips about La Villette and Buttes Chaumont, Paris\" href=\"\/blog\/category\/paris\/paris-travel-guide\/paris-neighborhoods\/villette-buttes-haumont\/\">Buttes Chaumont<\/a> are unquestionably among the most beautiful gardens in Paris.<\/p>\n<p>A little outside of the center, <strong>le parc des Buttes-Chaumont offers a real moment of calm<\/strong> for those who exit the Botzaris subway station. There are five kilometers of little paths waiting for park-goers, each designed by the inventive genius architect Alphand.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><object width=\"592\" height=\"358\" classid=\"clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000\" codebase=\"http:\/\/download.macromedia.com\/pub\/shockwave\/cabs\/flash\/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0\"><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\" \/><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\" \/><param name=\"src\" value=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/ukjYfsaKRnw&amp;hl=en_US&amp;fs=1\" \/><param name=\"allowfullscreen\" value=\"true\" \/><embed width=\"592\" height=\"358\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/ukjYfsaKRnw&amp;hl=en_US&amp;fs=1\" allowFullScreen=\"true\" allowscriptaccess=\"always\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" \/><\/object><br \/>\nParis Video Tour: Buttes &#8211; Chaumont(6:17)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Le Parc des Buttes-Chaumont<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><\/strong>The park is found on the east side of the Canal Saint-Martin. Designed by Jean-Charles Alphand, <strong>the park was filled with little round mountains (mont in French), which looked rather &#8220;bald&#8221; (chauve in French), leading to its name Chau-mont.<\/strong> The engineer Darcel created massive mounds up to 101 meters in height, which \u00a0were later covered with vegetation by the brilliant landscaper Jean-Pierre Barillet-Deschamps.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>With a walk up the highest hill you will reach the Sybille temple, where you can will find the best view of <a title=\"Travel tips about Montmartre and Sacre Coeur, Paris\" href=\"\/blog\/category\/paris\/paris-travel-guide\/paris-neighborhoods\/montmatre\/\">Montmartre<\/a> and its lovely surroundings in the city. In addition to the hills, the park also has the largest lake of the city.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Romantic Bridge<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><\/strong>The park is also famous for its bridge. It was supposed to be a place of amazing views of idyllic landscape\u2019 but, according to the poet Louis Aragon, it became a suicide Mecca. Nowadays, the bridge is protected by a wire fence.<\/p>\n<p><strong>St. Jean-Baptiste de Belleville<\/strong> \u2013 139 rue de Belleville<\/p>\n<p>The St. Jean-Baptiste De Belleville church has huge, beautiful towers reaching 57 meters high (187 feet high) that can be spotted from the park. Jean-Baptiste Lassus, its architect, offered a fresh look at the French XIII century style. \u00a0Even the most famous architect of Paris, Viollet le Duc, who restored Notre-Dame Cathedral, congratulated this amazing structure.<\/p>\n<p><strong>La Mouza\u00efa<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><\/strong>La Mouza\u00efa, a charming street of Paris was named after a town in Algeria. It has a quaint old fashioned style and can be found hidden between rue de Mouza\u00efa, rue du G\u00e9n\u00e9ral-Brunet and rue Michel-Hidalgo. Small houses were built here, full of flowers and greenery.
