In the Marylebone district of London, less than a mile (around 1.3 km) from both Regent’s Park and Hyde’s Park, you will see a balcony on the 4th floor (equivalent to the 5th floor in the USA) of a building near Seymour Place and Walmer Street. Just on the other side of that balcony is this furnished 1-bedroom, 1-bathroom apartment.
Two glass doors bordered by two floor-to-ceiling windows access the balcony and make for an eye-catching addition to a main room finished with hardwood flooring. In the main room, which is composed of an open kitchen and a living room, you will find some of the trappings of life—a sofa, a dining table, and a TV, as well as an oven, a fridge, a freezer, a microwave, and a dishwasher. Bring in your belongings and the place will start to look like home. The kitchen is tastefully peculiar and contemporary, with wood-grain and diorite patterns. It has a double sink and the advantage of an easy-to-reach wrap-around counter. If your feet get cold on the hardwood in the kitchen, warm them in the carpeted bedroom. As in the kitchen, the contemporary style makes a strong showing here. Sprawl out on the double bed. Read a book in shafts of late-afternoon sunlight. Then, if your feet are itching for something more firm to stand on, head to the tiled bathroom. Soak in the tub or take a shower.
If you feel like shopping, join the nearly half million people who journey to Oxford Street every day. There you will find shops both high-end and small-time. You will not find private vehicles, at least not during the day weekdays and Saturdays. A 0.6-mile (around 965 meter) trip will bring you to the beginning of Oxford Street. A similar distance will bring you to the Wallace Museum or Madame Tussauds, and half the distance will bring you to the Lisson Gallery. 221 B Baker Street is a half-mile (around 805 meter) walk from the furnished rental.
At the Baker Street Subway Station, you have your choice to climb aboard the Bakerloo, Circle, Hammersmith & City, Jubilee, or Metropolitan lines. Go to the Edgeware Road station if you want the District line as well as Circle and Hammersmith & City. If all you need is the Bakerloo, hop on at the Marylebone station, which is closer to the apartment than the Baker Street station—0.2 miles (around 322 meters).
