New York Apartment - 1 Bedroom Rental in West Village (NY-2755)

This one bedroom apartment is located on a charming cobblestone street in the heart of the West Village, between West 4th Street and Abingdon Square on Eighth Avenue in Manhattan. The one bedroom apartment is in an elevator building with a laundry room and trash disposal down the hall. It has two exposures, facing west and north, 10-foot ceilings, and picture windows in the living room that look out on the cobblestone street and sky. The apartment boasts four closets, all of which will be delivered empty.

• Enter the hall, which leads to a 29-foot dining area and living room at one end and bedroom at the other. In the dining area, there is an antique cherry-wood dining table and a small sideboard. The dining area opens onto the living room, which features early-American antiques as well as an upholstered sofa and overstuffed club chair and ottoman, perfect for TV viewing (40-inch TV) and reading. Additional directors chairs and other wood chairs can be easily assembled for entertaining. There is a desk by the window with an ergonomic desk chair. A Bose radio is centrally located on bookshelves that line one wall, and framed paintings hang everywhere.
• The separate kitchen has a window. It is small but adequate. An array of pots and pans hang from the wall. The quiet refrigerator and gas stove are both fairly new (less than five years old).
• The bathroom has good water pressure, with both a bathtub and shower.
• The bedroom is on the back, off the street and very quiet, with lots of drawer and closet space. The full-sized bed is a top-of-the-line Schifman mattress and box spring, just a few years old and extremely comfortable.
• Please note, AC will be provided in the warm weather. Four sets of sheets and four sets of bath and hand towels are included.

The West Village is largely landmarked (preserved), known for having lots of sky, winding streets where pedestrians have the right of way, starred restaurants and darling boutiques. Right next-door is the Meatpacking District, home to scores of famous boutiques and restaurants and the new Whitney Museum. A short walk away, along West 4th Street, is the famed Washington Square, newly restored with fountains and fresh green lawns, but otherwise still the same—full of chess players, musicians and young lovers. One block east is the Equinox Health Club. A few blocks to the west is the beautiful Hudson River Park, which includes walks along the river as well as running and bike paths, lovely restored piers and outdoor cafes.

Two blocks away in two directions are the local and express lines at 14 Street / 7 Avenue (1,2 and 3 trains) and the local and express lines at 14 Street / 8 Avenue (A and C trains) as well as the L and the E lines. Eighth Avenue is always teeming with NYC taxi cabs.
