Midtown living at it's best! In this furnished one bedroom, you get not only the luxuries of a doorman building, but also the benefits that come from living in central Manhattan. The 13-story building is found in the part of Midtown East known as Turtle Bay, on East 47th Street and 3rd Avenue, not far from the United Nations Headquarters. With a full time doorman, this building also has on-site laundry facilities, as well as an elevator to bring you to your 5th floor apartment (equivalent to the European 4th floor).
This apartment is lined with basket-weave parquet floors in the living room and bedroom, and the bathroom has lovely marble throughout. The kitchen is tiled and equipped with matching white appliances, including a gas stove, refrigerator with freezer compartment, dishwasher and microwave. There is also a toaster and a kettle, great for a quick breakfast. As for furnishings, the style is contemporary and functional -- a nice sitting area is arranged in front of the television, and there is a dining table situated in front of the panel of windows. These three windows have southern exposure, giving views of the buildings in the area. There is also a closet in the living room, as well as built-in shelving underneath the window ledge. In the bedroom, there is a double bed and night table, as well as another closet and a dresser.
The streets of Midtown East combine commercial buildings with restaurants and boutiques on the first floor with governmental institutions such as consulates and the UN, as well as a mix of residential buildings and hotels. Therefore, this area tries to have a little of something for everyone! The thoroughfare avenues like 3rd Avenue offer many dining options, Smith & Wollensky is a popular pick for more upscale meals (2 blocks north on the corner of 49th Street); there are also lots of quick bites -- Le Pain Quotidien and Hale and Hearty Soups are both just 3 blocks south. For meeting friends or colleagues, you also have plenty of pubs and bars in the neighborhood; beer connoisseurs seem to love the popular Bierhaus on 3rd Avenue and 45th Street.
Another convenience in this neighborhood is the easy access to the subway and trains out of NYC with Grand Central Station just 5 blocks away. Here you have trains that run through Manhattan's east side to Brooklyn and the Bronx (4, 5, 6 lines) and the 7 train that goes to Queens (with its LaGuardia Airport). To quickly hop to the other side of the city, grab the S train, which takes you to Times Square at East 42nd and 7th Avenue! True trains also run out of Grand Central to take you to other parts of New York. An alternative subway station is at Lexington Avenue and East 53rd Street, serving the E and M lines.
