Simplicity and elegance intersect in this two bedroom apartment in the Gramercy - Union Square area of Manhattan. The apartment boasts high ceilings and clean lines, as well as a full kitchen and contemporary furnishings to make you at home. This unit is situated on the 3rd floor (which would be considered the 2nd floor by most Europeans) of a 4-story townhouse. This walk-up building features a buzzer/intercom system that allows you to screen your guests. Additionally, there are laundry facilities in the basement.
Inside of this two bedroom unit, there is no living space - but two bedrooms and a kitchen and bathroom. In Bedroom 1, you will find a queen size bed and a desk, as well as a closet with shelving for storage. The bathroom and kitchen are situated on the opposite end of the apartment. The bathroom has a sleek walk-in shower and the kitchen features stainless steel appliances, including a microwave, toaster and coffee maker.
Outside of the building, you will find yourself near the intersection of 15th Street and 1st Avenue in Central Manhattan. This area, known as Gramercy or Union Square depending on who you ask, is convenient to public transit, shopping and also has nearby parks. Here are some of the local highlights:
- 14th Street: Just a block south (less than 200m), this thoroughfare is lined with restaurants and convenient stores like Trader Joe's, Whole Foods and more. Grab a slice at Artichoke, a local pizzeria, when you're looking for a quick bite to eat!
- Stuyvesant Square: A small quaint park just down the street from the building, where you can enjoy a morning stroll or meet up with friends.
- Union Square: Less than 1/2 mile from the apartment (700m), this spot is a New York icon. With the GreenMarket held 3 days/week year round and Whole Foods Market directly in front, this park is excellent to stop by on your way home to make dinner.
- 1st Avenue: If you walk south down this street, you will find yourself on the East Village, home to myriad bars and lounges, as well as live music venues. A great place to explore for weekend entertainment!
Please note that there is a hospital close to the apartment, therefore some siren noise can be heard at times.
To access other spots in NYC, including Williamsburg just 1 stop away, hop on the subway at 1st Avenue and 14th Street (0.2 mi or about 300m from the apartment). This station serves the L train which runs east/west along 14th Street and connects to all major train lines within 4 stops.
