A shelving unit stands near the television providing storage space, and there is also a closet in this space for hanging things. The open kitchen includes the major appliances as well as a long dining table situated next to the backyard-facing window. The last room on this floor is a full bathroom with a modern bowl sink and rainfall shower. From this floor, access to the private (and furnished!) backyard terrace is available.

When we first arrived to the building, we were a bit shocked by the neighborhood, as it seemed somewhat dangerous. This turned out to be a prejudice, rather than it being a real problem.

The first thing we thought of the apartment (we hadn't crossed the door yet) was that it looked unclean. The entrance was full of debris from what could only seem like a recent makeover. When we finally obtained the entrance key and did actually cross the door, we were pleased to see that the inside was not bad at all.

Ours was a party of 8, and could sleep fairly with extra air mattresses the apartment was equipped with. One of them was leaking air, but with just one call, the problem was fixed and a new air mattress arrived.

The apartment was clean, neat, tidy, and comfortable for us 8, had enough kitchen appliances for a regular family breakfast, and some occasional family dinner. The room downstairs was much colder than the upstairs room, and it was hard to keep everyone happy regarding thermostat.

If the apartment is to be used by more than 4 guests this could be a concern. Regarding noise, we concluded that the building's boiler turned on around 5 am, and there was a clearly audible noise in the room downstairs.

We were wakened every morning by it. People hoping to have a sound sleep could find this as a downside.

Dear Gustavo - Thank you so much for taking the time for sending us a
thorough review. I especially appreciate your insight on the neighborhood that is so vibrant and wonderful and usually judged before people really get to know it!

The building is great condition, I am not aware of any debris in the hallway, but will look into that right away! This apt as you mentioned is ideal for 4 guests but can accommodate up to 8 if needed, and the description of the apt is very clear to all our guests to make that

There is plenty of space in the apt for 8 guests, but the sleeping arrangements can be slight tight. With air mattresses there is always the chance of a leak, however, as you mentioned, we were and are always able to fix that right away with a new one. We are so happy that you had a good time and apologize for the noise in the lower level.

The lower level will always be cooler than the top level due to warm air rising, we have extra blankets in the apt for those that need extra warmth, in addition to extra electric heaters to warm the lower level more if needed (in the winter obviously). We take a great deal of pride in presenting the apt at the highest standards and hope you were able to see that.

Thank you!

The vacation rental was as described. There were food products that were opened and past their use-by date in the fridge, but apart from that, everything was clean. The downstairs bedroom didn't get warm but the comforters were nice and warm so that was enough.

In any case, we were very happy with our stay at the vacation rental and the hosts always answered our questions quickly.

The cleaners are instructed to always throw away all items in the fridge, and I apologize deeply for not that mistake. We really pride ourselves in keeping the apt clean and presenting it in its best state for every guest.

There is an additional heater in the basement for those that need extra warmth typically the downstairs is cooler than the upstairs. We are glad that other than those two issues you had a great time, and I am glad that I was able to be there for you when you needed us.

We hope to see you again!

Very clean and pleasant apartment, 5 min from the subway, 10 min from Central Park and close to stores, restaurants and jazz bars. The owners are very easy to reach during the stay in case you have questions.
Harlem really is a nice neighborhood that allows a break from the bustle of Manhattan Center.

Worth giving it a try without hesitation!

From the moment we booked, the owner contacted us to provide us with heaps of information on the vacation rental, the neighborhood and the city. I had a few questions before our arrival and always got quick answers. During our stay, I had an issue giving the final payment on the very first day and she was understanding (the issue was resolved the next day and I think I was feeling more uncomfortable than she was!).

The apartment is very well situated, 5 minutes from the 116th station on Lennox and 10 minutes from the same station on Lexington. In both cases, you reach the south of Central Park within 10-15 minutes with the express and Battery Park in 20-25-30 minutes if you take the subway on Lennox.

Don't hesitate to go to Harlem; its infamous reputation is obsolete.

The accommodation is in a good location and fairly well equipped but there was a problem with the heating and lack of covers: 2 duvets only for 7!! We had to inflate the mattress to have an extra bed and with the lack of heating and covers, the nights were freezing cold as the cold rises from the floor!! We texted the owner but didn't get a reply.

The heating can be controlled from within the apartment and the owner will show this to clients. The owner has added one more cover to the apartment totaling 5 covers for 4 beds. The owner always tries to be available by both phone and e-mail for any concerns or questions tenants may have.
