Studio Apartment in Le Marais (PA-1570)
Studio, 1 Bathroom - Sleeps 1

You’ll feel like a character in a classic film noir with this romantic studio apartment in the Le Marais, Paris community of the 4th arrondissement.

The quaint studio apartment is located on Rue du Bourg Tibourg and Rue Ste Croix de la Bretonnerie. It sits on the ground floor (considered 1st floor in U.S.) of a 4-story walk-up building with coded security system. Entrance to the home is through a lovely cobblestone courtyard, which the windows overlook.

The 15sqm (161sqft) apartment offers an authentic, old-world environment of exposed brick walls and exposed wood beam ceilings. Accessories sit atop salmon-colored tiled floors, creating a lived-in and fully-furnished home. Amenities include a sofa bed (double), small flat-screen television and a long desk with lamp that can also be used as a dining table. A small kitchenette is provided instead of a formal kitchen, supplying essential cooking appliances such as a fridge, freezer, oven with two electric burners, toaster and a coffeemaker.

Settled in the center of Paris, this studio in Le Marais of the 4th arrondissement is surrounded by some of the most iconic attractions of the city. Here, you will be walking distance from a hub of must-see sights including the Notre Dame Cathedral (1km/0.6mi), Hotel de Ville (300m/0.2mi), and the Center Pompidou (650m/0.4mi) containing Paris’s National Museum of Modern Art. Of course, the entire neighborhood is worthy of a stroll: it is one of the city’s oldest quarters, boasting architecture from the medieval and renaissance eras. Also, be sure to frequent the cafes, relax by the Seine River (500m/0.3mi) and travel to the Ile Saint-Louis (850m/0.5mi).

Looking to get around Paris? Take advantage of these nearby metros:

  1. Hôtel de Ville : Serving lines 1, 11. 450m/0.3mi.
  2. Saint-Paul : Serving line 1. 550m/0.3mi.

Please note that being on the ground floor, this apartment does not receive a lot of natural light and can get humid at times.

The apartment was amazing! I stayed in the apartment for six months because I studied abroad in Paris for a semester. The apartment and the location is exactly what you would think of Paris. It is super charming! It is perfect for one person living there and you are legit in the center of everything and in the best neighborhood in Paris. It's also really quiet. The best part to is that is in the courtyard (which is also really charming) and so you do not have to walk any stairs. It can also accommodate a couple people as well, my mom and sister came over to visit and the 3 of us fit perfectly fine and comfortable. Its only a 12 minute walk to Notre-Dame and 20 minute walk to the Louvre and 10 minute walk to Chatelet which is the major subway station where most of the lines go through. Therefore commuting in the city is super easy compared to living in other nice neighborhoods. Ghislaine is also very responsive and is a great landlord. It truly was one of the best experiences of my life and most of my friends living in Paris were jealous of the location I was living in.

I was very content staying for 5 weeks, Ghislaine is very accommodating and pleasant, the small studio is actually perfect for one person on a budget, the location is amazing, walk everywhere, even though it's a busy nightlife area it is peaceful and quiet in the courtyard where the studio is, secure, nice shower, fast internet, can't complain about anything, I highly recommend.

I do not regret staying in this apartment, because the location is absolutely amazing. It is also very cute and small, which I like. The landlord was also generally kind and helpful. It was fully stocked with kitchen appliances and utensils, and bed sheets and towels. The bed is a futon the folds up to become a couch, so it is not the most comfortable - as to be expected. However, I do have a lot of issues with this apartment. Primarily, this apartment is sort of cave-like due to the rock walls, and therefore is very humid and wet. The landlord advises airing out the apartment everyday to reduce the moisture, but that is impossible to do when it is winter and freezing outside. Therefore, everyday the windows would be covered with condensation and dripping water down the walls. The back rock wall of the apartment and the floor underneath the bed would occasionally be wet as well. It was a huge hassle to have to wipe up all of the water off of the windows and doors multiple times everyday for the entire winter. When you walked into the apartment you could feel the humidity and smell a distinct smell. And it affected everything in the apartment. The bed sheets and pillows were constantly damp, which is unpleasant. And all of my books and papers were a little warped by the moisture and made soft and weak. My passport was warped, and it was in the cupboard the entire time. Now everything I own smells like that apartment - all of my clothes and books and belongings. It's crazy. And perhaps the worst part was the mold. There was a lot of mold growing behind the dresser where I assume it was constantly wet. And there was mold growing all over the walls of the kitchen and bathroom. Additionally, cardboard boxes in the cupboard, my shoes in the dresser, my soaps in the shower, and my bathroom supplies in the bathroom all got moldy. I'm not sure if the mold is what caused me to be sick or not, as I frequently had a cold. Furthermore, my WIFI kept going out, and the landlord was slow to help me in fixing it. But she was quick to help me when the apartment got infested by ants, and provided me with insecticide. Overall, my stay in this apartment was not the most satisfactory due to these issues that I believe are hard to fix. The apartment is pretty and in an amazing location, but it is hard to live in for an extended period of time.

I had a wonderful 2 month stay in this apartment. It is a fine size for one person (typical for Paris!), I had a few people come visit and it was manageable with 2 people. The apartment is clean and well-kept, and felt very safe. It is in an amazing location, right in the Marais and close to the Seine and major metro lines. The owner was always available by text message if I needed something, and was extremely helpful with all my requests.

Loved my stay here! I spent two and a half months living in the studio. The location was fantastic, right in the centre of le Marais and in a lovely quiet courtyard. The apartment itself is quiet small but was perfect for one (for a shorter period would be ok for two). The landlord was lovely and addressed any problem I had immediately! Couldn't recommend more!

The owner was very nice, but the apartment was so damp that mold was a constant problem. The futon is rather old, and not terribly comfortable; it would be fine for a short-term stay, but it was awful for eight months.

The neighborhood was exciting, with numerous bars and restaurants and close to Notre Dame and other tourist sites, but it got rather noisy, particularly on weekend nights.

The Marais is a humid neighborhood, that's why I warn all the renters as soon as they arrive that it is important to air the studio on a very regular basis.

As regards the quality of the mattress, it is the first time that I get this comment, so I'll ask my current renter for her opinion and will change the mattress if need be.

As for the noise, I am extremely surprised as renters are usually rather surprised by how quiet it is despite the location.

Jose the agent was very helpful and attentive and I really appreciated that because several other agencies I contacted were not so helpful. The apartment was in a fantastic location, I didn't realize how good it was until I left!

The jewish quarter was so close, ice-skating at the Hotel de Ville, Lizard Lounge down the street, not to mention AMAZING boutique and vintage shopping around the area.

The landlady was so sweet and accommodating and was very quick to help with any problems. She made me feel really welcome in a foreign place! The apartment itself was very cozy and had everything I needed to be comfortable.

The pictures really don't do justice to how cute the place is! I would definitely recommend this apartment to anyone looking to stay in Paris!

The studio I rented was small, as expected, but had everything I needed. It was in good condition, and clean. The neighborhood was excellent in regards to location ( a block to Rue de Rivoli, close to Notre Dame, etc.) and ambiance. An unexpected benefit was that, though the street was busy, the studio was inside on the courtyard, which made it surprisingly quiet and private!

The landlady was very nice and very helpful, providing a map of the area, directions, and information.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay, and having the little apartment contributed greatly to my ability to relax and enjoy myself - eat at home when I wanted, or just make a cup of tea (or 6) in the morning!

Thank you very much for all your help.
