This two bedroom duplex apartment is located in the 10th arrondissement of Paris, on the right bank of the River Seine near the Grands Boulevards area. The district contains two of the capital’s main train stations, Gare du Nord and Gare de L’Est—both are among the busiest railway stations in all of Europe. The rental is on the 1st French floor (equivalent to the 2nd American floor) of a 3-story walk-up built in the early 1900’s. It has a coded system at the entrance for security purposes.
The 120m² (approx. 1,292 sq ft) loft is lined with parquet floors and features high ceilings (3m85 / approx. 13 ft) with metallic crossbeams, exposed brick walls, and interior sliding doors / room dividers. Decorated in a minimalistic style, the apartment feels modern throughout. It has both eastern and western exposure with large windows making the space rather luminous and providing pleasant views of the courtyard below. The living room windows date from the original construction, with lovely stained glass segments on top. The open living space on the lower level is furnished with sofas facing a coffee table and flat-screen TV and DVD player. Across from it is a fully equipped eat-in kitchen with checkered floors and ample counter and cabinet space. It has stainless steel appliances (including a dishwasher) and an L-shaped breakfast bar where you can have simple meals, as well as a dining table that can seat up to six guests. On this level, you’ll also find the bathroom, which has polished concrete floors and includes a bathtub, separate shower stall, and sink; the toilet is in a separate room. A spiral staircase leads to the upper level, which contains the two bedrooms. There is a fireman's pole that you can use to descend to the lower level if you want a quick trip from the bedroom to the shower! Bedroom 1 has a regular double bed, while Bedroom 2 has a double sofa bed in addition to a desk and chair. The rental has plenty of storage space in its closets, shelves, and cupboards, and you’ll enjoy the convenience of an in-unit washing machine.
On Rue des Petites Ecuries & Rue Martel, by the famous area known as Grands Boulevards, this two bedroom unit is close to three subway stations. You can access line 4 at Château d'Eau (350 meters / approx. 0.2 miles), line 7 at Poissonnière (650 meters / approx. 0.4 miles), and lines 8 and 9 at Bonne Nouvelle (550 meters / approx. 0.3 miles). You’ll also be steps away from traditional supermarket chains like Franprix and Monoprix, as well as organic ones likes BioCoop. Visit Canal Saint Martin (1.2km / 0.7 miles), a popular destination among locals and tourists, which is lined with open-air markets, as well as great bars and restaurants. Famous eateries in the neighborhood include Chez Flo and Chartier. Take a stroll along Rue du Faubourg-Saint-Denis, a lively street where you’ll find a variety of shops and cafés. If you wish to explore areas outside of Paris, you can take the express RER B and D trains at Gare du Nord to reach the suburbs, or the TGV rapid transit train at Gare de L’Est that can take you to other French cities or even across Europe. Both stations are within a 1-km radius (approx. 0.6 miles).
