This studio apartment is located in an area known as Saint-Germain des Pres, within the 6th arrondissement of Paris, on the left bank of the Seine River. The apartment is on the 1st French floor (2nd American floor) of a 5-story walk-up. The building dates back to the 18th century, when it was used as a monastery. There is a concierge at the main entrance, which is secured by a digital code system.
Despite the neighborhood being rather lively, the apartment itself is rather calm. The 35m² (approx. 377 sq ft) unit has 3.50-meter high ceilings (11 ft) and is lined with parquet floors from the early 20th century. There are 4 windows, which are 3 meters (10 ft) high, and allow in the sunlight. Three of the windows face east, and overlook a lovely inner courtyard, and the fourth window has a western exposure, facing a different courtyard. The living area is furnished with a double sofa bed, two armchairs and a coffee table, as well as a flat-screen TV. There is also a double bed, numerous in-built shelves, and ample closet space for your clothing. The separate eat-in kitchen is equipped with the main cooking utensils and appliances, including a practical dishwasher. There is a breakfast bar with seating for two guests. Next to the kitchen, you’ll find the bathroom, which has a toilet, shower with glass doors, and sink. A hair dryer and a heated drying rack are also available. In between the shower and sink are floor-to-ceiling cabinets that provide adequate storage space for bath linens and toiletries. Additionally, there is an in-unit washing machine, so you can conveniently do your laundry at home, as well as an iron, ironing board and vacuum.
You’ll have easy access to public transportation from this studio apartment, situated on Rue de Seine & Rue Jacob. Among the closest subway stations are Saint-Germain-des-Prés (300 meters / 0.1 miles) on line 4 and Odéon (400 meters / 0.2 miles) on lines 4 and 10. The Saint-Germain de Pres area has many great restaurants, such as Les Deux Magots, Café de Flore, Brasserie Lipp, and La Pérouse. Visit the nearby Luxembourg gardens (550 meters / 0.3 miles), site of the French Senate, which is housed in the Luxembourg Palace. Walk along the Boulevard St. Germain, where you’ll be able to take in the Haussmanian architecture of many of the buildings that line the thoroughfare. The neighboring Latin Quarter and bohemian St. Michel district are very lively and definitely worth exploring. Walk along Rue Mouffetard (1.9 km / 1.1 miles), one of the oldest and most animated pedestrian streets in Paris. It has an open-air market and many stores, coffee shops, and eateries. Don’t miss out on the delicious crêpes sold by street vendors.
